Guest guest
Hi! I'm just getting stared too. Summer was diagnosed by our ped. 2 weeks ago. I don't know for sure but I think it all depends on your insurance company. some require that you have a referral from your ped. and some don't. I would look at your policy and find out. My insurance doesn't want to pay. Anything over 1000 must be pre- authorized. My daughter is almost 5 months and I feel like we're losing precious time. Have you tried the repositioning techniques? denisha florida summer's mom > Hello, > I have a 3 month old son who has one eye that is thin and one > that is wide. Guest guest
Hi Mom & welcome to our group!! You are doing a great job by finding out all this information on your own - it's a shame your Dr. isn't being a better help to you & your son, but that's unfortunately very common. You asked if you should find a Dr. who will take your concerns seriously or just go to Cranial Tehcnologies?? Cranial Technologies offer free evaluations, but they are not able to band a child without a prescription from a Dr.. You said you live in New York, I believe then the closest Cranial Tech location to you would be the clinic in Paramus NJ. Is that anywhere near you? In the mean time, keep addressing your concerns with your pediatrician, bring in as much information to him about plagio and whatever else you can find. If he still won't take your concerns seriously, then perhaps it's time to find a different Dr.. While you are waiting for Dr. appts & such, you could try repositioning Collin. Visit www.plagiocephaly.org then click repositioning tips. You could also find tips in our " bookmarks " section of our group. Good luck, - welcome again to our group. Please keep us posted on your situation. Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad 6/01 MI > Hello, > I have a 3 month old son who has one eye that is thin and one > that is wide. Guest guest
Hi, I think the best advice for you at the moment, whether or not you continue with different teatment later, is for now reposition Colin, safley but aggressivley.Keep him off of the flat part of his head at all times, weather he is in bed or up.This is the only treatment we use in New Zealand and it can have great results if you are consistant with it.So at least until you decide what is next for you and your son give it your best shot with repositioning. Best of luck,, Mum to Ben in New Zealand P.S Have a look at this site for a great repositioning device that I am successfully using at the moment.www.safetsleep.com
