Guest guest
Wow, some great ideas Fran! Hows the planning thing going for you? Do you see a lot of benefit and peace in having back-up plans and being prepared? So today I had a similar kind of emergency. My alarm clock didn't go off (I screwed with the settings.. bad idea) and I woke up very late. I knew I didn't have time to steam my veggies and did not want to eat my emergency food. So what I did was put some meat on to saute while I took a quick shower, then grabbed my steamer and a bag of broccoli and put it in a bag to take with me. When I got to work I put my steamer on the counter and loaded it up with veggies and mixed that with the meat I had sauted. Close call! Unfortunately someone put a note on my steamer that said " Smells! " because I guess they don't like the smell of steamed broccoli. Made me feel a little bad but I won't be doing this often so oh well. Luv, Debby San , CA --- fgourd <fgourd@...> wrote: > Hi Val, > I sure hope you feel better now. My alarm clock didn't go off (I screwed with the settings.. bad idea) and I woke up very late. --------------- Hi Debby, it's so great that you could turn things around so well! Congrats! Re: Planning: - I cannot do without planning or all hell brakes loose. Even with planning I have the hardest time staying on track (will post more on that), but at least my base is there (good meat and veggies, good fats, supplements). - Like you, I find that having food prepared in advance for the day makes all the difference in the world (my challenge is around my meals). - My planning includes: menu planning, cooking, and grocery lists. - I have been planning and preparing my food ahead of time for the whole day for the last 4 years, so it's well integrated in my routine. Four years ago, my environmental M.D. put me on a rotation diet of meat, fats (alas, was veg. oils, so that changed), low carb veggies, no grains nor high carb veggies, because I had adverse reactions to so many foods (at the time, I ate some 4 meats inexpensive enough for my budget, and some 4 to 8 low carb veggies). Since the diet called every day for a different family of each food I ate, I learned to plan not only meals, but to make grocery lists. I don't follow this rotation diet intentionaly to the letter anymore, but I like to change food everyday, so I end up rotating for variety. However, I don't mind eating the same leftover meat the next day, or veggies two days in a row. - I also integrated pretty well supplements in the last 4 years; made it an automatic thing over time, pretty much like brushing my teeth. Still working on the rest. Take good care, Fran :- )

On a perfect day I get enough sleep, plenty of water, relax a bit, take my supplements, exercise, eat my food at good times, etc. But I rarely have a perfect day and so usually one or more of those things doesn't go exactly right. But I do my best to get all of those things done and just give myself credit for what I do. > - Like you, I find that having food prepared in > advance for the day makes all the difference in the world (my challenge > is around my meals). Can I ask what that challenge is? > - I have been planning and preparing my food ahead > of time for the > whole day for the last 4 years, so it's well That's awesome! I think at first a routine seems overwhelming, and it is a little hard at first, but later on there is a wonderful peace with not having another thing that you really have to think about, because you kind of do it on auto pilot.. wouldn't you agree? > - I also integrated pretty well supplements in the > last 4 years; > made it an automatic thing over time, pretty much > like brushing my > teeth. Yup, I've gotten the supplement thing down a lot better too. Although I only take mine once a day because that's enough routine for me. So I take them in the morning when I am making my food. I keep vitamin C in a little tin in my purse though and take that when ever I see my tin. I take 2 grams in the morning and then if I take some from my tin here and there, plus the 2 grams I get from my food, I'm doing OK.
