Guest guest
ALL: For those who have not tried Quorn, a new vegetarian protein introduced to the USA from Europe, I have been eating two of their products - meat grounds & turkey roast. Both are acceptable with a mild taste, & I have pawned off the " Quorn-turkey " to 2 people without them realizing it's " fake turkey " . Personally, I could taste the difference, but it is surprisingly close in taste & texture to white turkey meat. The two comments I have about Quorn are: 1) It has a high fiber & protein content, especially the two products I tried noted above, so it definitely gives one the sensation of being full much faster compared to any other protein (and most foods) I've eaten. 2) I have had some " bowel adjustment " phase using Quorn, high protein & high fiber, as it made my stools almost runny for a few days. This would seem to me it is promoting a different bacteria growth, which affects digestion & stool differences. This makes sense because Quorn is an unusual form of protein & fiber. For those with constipation or " hard stools " Quorn might help in a big way. Steamed Fish at Whole Foods: Whole Foods, a national health food chain, has a unique free service in their seafood department. They will steam the fish (and other seafood) you buy from them (takes 10 minutes) while you shop. They have several herbal toppings at no charge, etc. available. I had them steam some Sockeye with dill. It was one of the best tasting Salmon I've ever eaten. Whatever equipment they use it turns out extremely tender & seemingly not overcooked. Salmon prices are lower now till about October when this season ends. ..
