Guest guest
I think past issue of Newsweek contained small article on aortic aneuryisms, relating that they may be an uncommon but significant silent killer. I believe Schwartzenegger had a corrective surgery for such. I'm sure physician's eyes will roll as people begin to march into their offices with the latest pathology du jour! Without MD's lab request these tests could be quite expensive. And if you have an HMO-forget it. I have addressed this issue with my physician long ago because, I have a slight pectus excavatum and being slim anyway, I can palpate the beating aorta below the xyphoid quite easily. If I press quite firmly, there is significant discomfort. His reply to this was no family history of cardiovascular diseases, normal BP, normal cholesterol, no SOB, ellicited discomfort wnl due to lack of body fat. In short, nothing compelling to pursue further diagnostics. But I think I will pursue it, even if I have to pay myself. Why leave things to chance?
