Guest guest
I bought Now brand virgin coconut oil today and used it to cook a couple of things. Do I just hate it, or could it be bad b/c I can't stand the aroma in the kitchen and neither can my family. It smelled rancid or maybe burnt. Any thoughts? I hate to pay a fortune for another brand and find I hate that too. If I can't eat coconut oil, is it going to hinder my recovery? , Hi! I don't particularly like coconut oil either. I have found that the best way for me to take it is melted and warm by the TBSP (i keep it in a glass jar and I put my oven on 350 with the jar on top to melt it) or I take it in raw egg or liver drinks and I can't taste it at all. I use Wilderness Family Naturals vco which is centrifuged. I really like it..it is very mild and doesn't smell bad at all. You might try contacting a few virgin coconut oil manufacturers and see if they will mail you a sample so you can try it. I think someone here in Austin actually had a little taste test party for vco and they all voted on the best ones. If I remember right, they tried Mountain Rose, Garden of Eden, Wilderness Family Naturals and Tropical Traditions. I believe the winner was Garden of Eden with Wilderness Family Naturals coming in second. The only thing I've cooked with coconut oil is eggs, popcorn & fried potatoes. The popcorn and potatoes were excellent (too bad I can't have those now), but I hated the smell of it on the eggs. Just my experience. Hope some of it helps.
