Guest guest
What I've entered in my spreadsheet is a Harvard women's study indicating a ratio higher than 4:1, like 12.0 g n-6, 1.1 g n-3. LEF is 11.1,2.2. IOM ymen and ywomen 17.0,1.6 and 12,1.1. MNDH 1999, pg 91, 8.0 g, 2.0 g. Take your pick. Anyway a ratio of 4:1 is very hard to do if you consider all the fat in your diet down to the tiny bits in each food. My conclusion after several years of reading nonsense and sense is that excess AA is what we want to avoid. When the discussion of EFAD started, I recalled that EFAD occurs in a parenteral setting and the cure is to add n-6 to the solution. I believe I need some n-3 for eicosanoids, but that is small. I got my fat intake so low at one time my arms got dusty. Then I added back the soy oil. BTW, one tbls of just soy oil is not way to much of anything if you burn it. Regards. ----- Original Message ----- From: paultheo2000 Sent: Monday, September 22, 2003 5:51 AM Subject: [ ] Re: Flax and omega 3? Wouldn't that provide way too much n-6? -
Guest guest
actually, MNDH states in terms of energy. n-6 is 1 to 4 % of energy. n-3 0.2% to 1 % of energy. I use 1800kcals.
