Guest guest
Warren: where is the proof of this? Dr W states that nothing can reverse aging. The best thing we can hope for is a slowing down of aging via CRON. on 10/31/2003 2:10 PM, Warren at warren.taylor@... wrote: > His most important discovery: " Age reversal " , and how > it applies even to the very elderly! Guest guest
Well logically it doesn't make any sense. If we could actually " reverse " aging, we could live forever. And noone is making that claim just yet...... on 10/31/2003 2:42 PM, Warren at warren.taylor@... wrote: >> On 31 Oct 2003, Francesca wrote: >> >> Warren: Where is the proof of this? Guest guest
Hi Francesca: They may not be making the claim, but I don't think it is disputed any more that telomerase will completely reverse cell senescence. Or that 'immortal' human cells are now being produced (and sold to interested parties such as skin treatment companies to do their own investigations) which do not age. Now cell senescence is not the only problem that has to be solved. And while reversing cell aging is now done routinely in the lab it has yet to be shown that it can be developed in a way to treat the entire body. Such development takes time, as with any apparently promising treatment. Nevertheless, that seems to me to be a huge advance in the direction of reversing aging altogether. Clearly though, as you say, it is not proven. Rodney. Francesca Skelton <fskelton@e...> wrote: Well logically it doesn't make any sense. Guest guest
Thanks Rodney. I think we have to be careful how we word things here and not make outrageous claims. There is to the best of my knowledge no way to actually reverse aging (or we'd all be growing younger - and that we're not). on 10/31/2003 3:13 PM, Rodney at perspect1111@... wrote: > Nevertheless, that seems to me to be a huge advance in the direction > of reversing aging altogether.
