Cinnamon, Spices, Flavorings (was -- Building Bones)

Hello Andy, and CR ALL:

I am 100 percent agreed that cinnamon is by far the best

sweet spice and flavoring: puddings and all sorts of recipes.

Use it on apples, fruits, and many kinds of applications.

Sweeten with Sucralose or your non-caloric favorite.

It costs almost nothing for a pound -- very inexpensive

and low-cost.

Example: I purchase almost a pound (13 Oz) of absolutely

delicious fine grind cinnamon for $2.69.

Add it to guar puddings (or any other recipe).

It thickens the pudding (so it isn't so gooey)

and gives it a nice texture too. Order Sucralose,

and I'll throw in for free a big container of

cinnamon! It is that inexpensive (and good).

The postage cost to ship a pound is actually more

than the cost of the cinnamon itself.

When product cost is less than shipping cost, there is

simply no excuse not to use cinnamon (or at least try it).

Especially when it is SO GOOD. And and Andy are

recommending it too. At least 3 of us agree.

A second favorite is nutmeg, which can be added to cinnamon,

or used alone. Nutmeg is delicious and adds extra variety

and richness to the cinnamon flavor. It can be used alone

too, but costs more ($9.29 for 13 Oz). Not much is needed.

But cinnamon by itself is perfect without the nutmeg.

One of these days, I must post more about using various

spices in recipes. Especially on soup recipes, which are

my favorite low-calorie life-saver CR foods. I literally

almost live on soups -- so wonderfully fantastic for CR.

And I must absolutely post more about using the natural

oils (anise, cinnamon, lemon, peppermint, wintergreen,

...., about 10 of them). And about using all the various

different flavors: butterscotch, caramel, rum, cherry,

coffee, grape, pistachio, raspberry, ... about 60 in all!

I have tried EVERY SINGLE ONE. The best ones are the

natural oils -- can not be beaten. Especially the

anise oil and lemon oil! And I love many surprising

flavors that are precious, delicious, and surprising!

Write me off-list if interested in any of this stuff,

because there are inexpensive sampler packs available

either in spice stores (or by Internet/mail order).

It won't set you back much, and you'll have months

and months of fun !!!!

*****Ditto the cinnamon. I have found it to be - in selected dishes

(oatmeal is a good example) - a very tasty sweetener. It does not

carry the " wallop " of sugar or high fructose corn syrup. But for

those of us who have gotten off the " sugar wagon, " the sweetness of

cinnamon is very noticeable and - in certain foods - very satisfying.
