Guest guest
Warren: as a senior citizen, I appreciate knowing this. But even if it hadn't been demonstrated in the lab, I'm healthier. I rarely get colds anymore (and when I do, they're mild). And I used to get the stomach flu a couple of times a year (nausea, fever, cold sweats and generally feeling miserable). For me just bypassing the misery of being sick (even if I don't live a day longer) while I'm living out my lifespan is worth every bit of any " sacrifice " . And I find the longer I'm on CR, the easier it is. on 10/10/2003 11:57 AM, Warren at warren.taylor@... wrote: > ''Caloric restriction is the most robust environmental method known > for decelerating aging and the development of age-related diseases. > CR is also widely thought to be less effective in older animals. > Using survival and high-density microarray studies, we demonstrate > that CR acts rapidly and reversibly to establish a pattern of > gene expression temporally associated with enhanced life span > and reduced tumor incidence in mice.
