Guest guest
****** [Off Topic] Cheap High Speed Internet for Everyone ****** Hello CR ALL: Continue your CR program, stay healthy, and live long -- forever is a good choice. We haven't seen anything yet! The proverbial last mile for digital broadband service has almost arrived. The world will never be the same again. In all parts of the world, virtually EVERYBODY will be able to receive inexpensive high-speed wireless internet access. One WiMax (IEEE 802.16a) base station will be able to broadcast a radial distance in all directions of up to 30 miles from the central transmitter at 70 Megabits per second, being able to service thousands of users (access points). That means that even small towns in the middle of nowhere will be able to have affordable high-speed wireless internet. Cities and metropolitan areas will have high-speed internet available for a song. Internet connection costs will plummet. China and India will be the countries most effected. http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,112951,tk,dnWknd,00.asp Intel will start producing WiMax computer chips in the second half of 2004. Hardware incorporating the new chips will be available in 2005. For all Glorious Futurists, this story is worth reading! -- Warren
