Unless you plan on getting all your greentea equivalent in one shot, like

capsules

or an extract, you better think about taste. You are NOT going to drink 2 - 6

cups

a day of something you cannot stand the taste of, for more than a day or 2,

unless your avocation is to be some kind of Catholic or Buddhist saint, where

you can gain merit by discomfort. So, i think this means just trying a bunch of

them. I do not think, my opinion only, that one brand of tea is so fabulously

more potent than the others, that you need purely go by this criterion.

I have in the past used some green tea extract by some firm called " American

Vitamins " or something like that, they have little bottles of extract for about

$20 each, you buy 3 and you get 4, they have, or had, radio informercials on

frequently. When you hear that one eyedropper full is the equivalent of some

thing like 15 cups of greentea, it seems like the way to go, and it really does

taste

decent, and is decaf also. I would probably be using it still IF i could find it

locally, but having to order it is just one more level of hassle that puts me

off.

PLUS, as a result of dealing with informercials, my learned lesson is that you

MUST avoid the scarcely mentioned trap of the " SCHEDULED AUTOMATIC

REORDER " on your card, and besides, the firm whose tea extract i liked, however

had a really screwed up accounting department, and i am loathe to let them have

access to ANY billable account number of mine.

Besides, i am skinnier now, and it's cold damp winter here, and a cup of warm

tea is much more comfortable and civilized than a capsule or a few drops of

something in a glass of cold water.

The things i consider now: Is it decaf? I gave up caffeine around 30 years ago

when i realized my state of mind was becoming dependent on having a dose of

caffeine. On recently trying different brands of greentea, i mistakenly bought

some non-decaf, and realized i felt goofy after the first cup, jangly. So, for

me,

it's back to religiously watching this designation on the package. Then, next

is taste. Will i be able to look forward to drinking this cup after cup, day

after

day, alternating of course with other brands i like. And lastly, i consider also

how much it will stain my teeth. I try to use less of teas ( black teas) that

have

a lot of staining. You can approximately guage this by how much the tea

stains a light colored mug, with repeated use. For heavy staining teas, i try

to maybe use them less, and also am very careful to remove the teabag

before the tea gets very dark, as a kind of remediation. Unfortunately for

me, some of the ones i like much, are quite staining. ( Stash Vanilla Nut

Creme).

Among other teas, i like Numi Red Mellow Bush tea - a great, country flavor

tea from Africa - but M Rae says this is not proven to have the anticancer

constituents that greentea has.

If you shop at natural foods store, or vitamin department, of course, you

get a wider variety and some are sure to please you greatly. ( Myself, i

find about 50% of them i do not care for, and would not drink a second

cup - but that's experimentation you have to do for yourself.)

This was a rather longish post- but a subject kinda interesting to me-

so excuse, please.

Good source for green, black, and whatever teas. I prefer drinking tea that tastes good, and drink plenty of green every day. (my personal favorite is Chinese and called "gunpowder").

I am interested in finding the best quality product in terms of purity and potency, taste is not important. I definitely want to drink the tea rather than take it Is it pill form, but am unsure whether it is better to use the powdered form or whole green leaves. Most websites that sell it offer both, and so many different kinds of green tea that I am really confused. I don't mind paying more for premium quality but not if it is only because it tastes better. Any help will be greatly appreciated!Jayne
