Guest guest
Hi Guys: Does anyone have an opinion as to the health merits of peanuts? Of course they are not really 'nuts'. They contain huge amounts of fat (although not the worst kind) and, if not fresh, are susceptible to aflatoxin, a potent carcinogen. (And, as a prof on the faculty of an agricultural university pointed out to me: guess which peanuts often get ground up for peanut butter - those that are too stale or unsightly to be sold as whole peanuts because they are much cheaper for the processor to buy). So my question really is: Do fresh peanuts have any notable redeeming features? (URGENT. There is a special on peanuts at the local supermarket this week!)
