Guest guest
This question has come up before and the three main sources of caffeine in the U.S. (coffee, tea, cocoa) are now not only not harmful, but have been found to have beneficial effects (coffee helping to prevent Parkinson's). Search the archives for these studies. on 1/21/2004 3:01 AM, temma675 at temma675@... wrote: > I know that Dr. Atkins is controversial but I was reading his book > and it states that everyone should avoid caffeine because it affects > blood suger level. Guest guest
A recent study found some positive correlation with reduced risk of diabetes and coffee consumption, which would suggest to me improved glucose/insulin regulation. There are some populations that do quite well without it. It's probably health neutral. I wouldn't worry about moderate usage. JR PS: I may have a slight bias as I roast my own coffee from green beans, and love good properly prepared coffee. -----Original Message----- From: temma675 [mailto:temma675@...] Sent: Wednesday, January 21, 2004 2:01 AM Subject: [ ] Does caffeine affect blood insulin level I know that Dr. Atkins is controversial but I was reading his book and it states that everyone should avoid caffeine because it affects blood suger level. What do you make of this? I have been avoiding caffeine for a while now and suffice to say I feel pretty good, not better but I feel all right. Does anyone know of any studies based on caffeine?
