Guest guest
Francesca and all: I made a series of food family tree graphics--they are at http://members.atlantic.net/~giselle/fft.htm It could help one to diversify the diet. Some of the groupings are controversial. I found many different taxonomical categories and names for the same groups from various sources. I decided to use the Tree of Life as my main source, which uses a disclaimer for many of their groupings. Some may be distressed to find that most of their foods come from genetically simlar groups (as I was--see the Rosids category). It probably has some errors and It's a bit of a mess-- I confess I am not much of an artist, but it might be useful for some. If anyone wants to beautify or correct it, I can send the files (.ppt and .xls) that I used to generate the graphics. Guest guest
Carol: this is fabulous work. I would like to put a pointer into our files to this. Perhaps working on this could be a group project: i.e. simplifying it so that it's easier to see at a glance. This, together with Suz Cart's " Checklist for CRON Variety " would be the perfect pair so that folks can optimize their nutrition from the widest variety of possible (healthy) sources and from different food families. Ideas on how to dovetail these two great resources are welcomed. We're lucky to have people who are willing to go to so much trouble for the benefit of all of us. on 12/20/2003 3:30 PM, lily_anagnostou at lily_anagnostou@... wrote: > Francesca and all: > > I made a series of food family tree graphics--they are at > > http://members.atlantic.net/~giselle/fft.htm > > It could help one to diversify the diet. > > Some of the groupings are controversial. Guest guest
Hi Carol: That is a wonderful set of tables. Thank you. I have only one suggestion. It would greatly help me if there were more explanatory notes in brackets, similar to the " (ferns) " reference below the heading " filicopsida " . Had it not been for that, I would have had no idea that filicopsida was the fern family. Similarly, I don't know what the corresponding common name is for most of the other latin names in the table. Great stuff! Guest guest
I checked the website reference, and the food family tree seems to be missing. Is there a URL pointer for it Carol?
