Guest guest
Katrina: I went to Amazon and was hoping it would be one of the books where you could " look inside " but I couldn't find that link with this book. Can you tell us a bit more so that we can know if it's worth buying? What is the " solution " that is making you so happy all of a sudden ? on 12/15/2003 12:40 PM, katrinacrader at katnap@... wrote: > Based on this recommendation, I purchased a second-hand copy of 'The > Pathway' by Ms. Mellin. Guest guest
The Solution (The Pathway) was voted one of the top 10 medical discoveries of 2000 (the millennial year). Thanks Katrina. It is considered a scientific and clinical discovery of major proportions, that concentrating on 2 single primary behavioral factors alone: -- nurturing (Nurturing self, nurturing others) -- Setting limits (Avoiding extremes) can cure behavioral illness in all areas of life, such as weight management and obsessive/compulsive/addictive behaviors. Most of all, *reap the benefit* to know how to break the repeat cycle of success/failure, and make permanent changes that can last a lifetime. Please take note that the these two behavioral focal points: -- nurturing (Nurturing self, nurturing others) -- Setting limits (Avoiding extremes) are two of the most remarkable qualities exemplified by Francesca and the List Admin on this discussion board. Think about it. Then be grateful -- and *reap the benefits*. -- Warren ====================== > On 15 Dec 2003, Katrina wrote: > > Based on this recommendation, I purchased a second-hand copy of > 'The Pathway' by Ms. Mellin. Guest guest
As for "The Solution" and "Pathways" I bought both books and quickly turned them in to our library. They were good reinforcement, but the messages that you must be good to yourself (your upbringing may have been shabby but was well-intentioned) and you must set limits for yourself, told it all. Guest guest
For Mike Bell, nothing else worked, but " The Solution " , was a winner. From the inside flap of " The Pathway " , authored by Laurel Mellin: " The Solution is very simple, but so powerful that many psychotherapists who use it believe it will supersede all current healing methods for one reason: it works. " The researchers and the clinicians using the method claim it to be a major discovery in applied clinical behavioral psychology. Its major application and success has been in the field of childhood and adult weight control, where the results are perfectly measurable, along with the permanency of the solution. It claims to be the first program ever to show a permanent weight loss result after the conclusion of the program. URL: www.solutioninstitute.org See the FAQ. The program has been in development at the University of California, San Francisco since 1979. The Institute is a non-profit organization. -- Warren ======================= On 15 Dec Francesca wrote: > > Katrina: I went to Amazon and was hoping it would be one of the > books where you could " look inside " but I couldn't find that link > with this book. Guest guest
I have no doubt that it works for many people. But there are those of us who had enough nurturing in our childhoods and who do set limits on ourselves. It's not " one size fits all " . I wonder if this works for those who do " emotional eating " . I don't. I just get hungry. on 12/17/2003 5:08 PM, Warren at warren.taylor@... wrote: > For Mike Bell, nothing else worked, but " The Solution " , > was a winner. Guest guest
Katrina's message has gotten me interested in thinking better about my own goals. I am sure that I can set some meaningful limits.
