Guest guest
One reason people are overweight, according to researchers, is nothing more than economics. Energy dense foods are inexpensive and readily available everywhere. Should we start taxing junk food to raise prices? Let the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine advise the National Academy of Sciences which foods need the highest taxes. We can do the whole thing cleanly and objectively to determine a just tax on each item. Simply use a sliding scale based on caloric load and absence of nutrition. Low nutrition, high calories = high tax. Broccoli, kale, chard, spinach, etc go untaxed. Blueberries, black berries, raspberries, etc go tax free.
