Guest guest
Dear all, some thoughts relating to what a wrote as well as intro of myself. Before starting candida diet I noticed one thing- I normally ate a quite healthy diet but every time I binged on sweets or alcohol I would crash 2-3 days afterwards. My physical and mental symptoms like back ache, liver pain, fatigue, brain fog, anxiety and so on would intensify and become almost unbearable. Also they would last sometimes for weeks. I even suspected adrenal fatigue, did the test, but it came back normal. I follow the diet for almost a month now (still weaning off carbs like quinoa and lentils which I have in small amounts with my meals) and I can tell you all I noticed improvement in symptoms almost immediately. My head is much much clearer now, moods are more even (no more wild swings like before), back ache is gone, liver pain almost gone completely (appears rarely in combination with other die off symptoms and when I try to run. It used to be quite bad, even when walking and resting in bed).. Sometimes I experience pain in my knees (strange but must be part of detox as I never had this before) and increased sinus pressure, but apparently they are all signs of healing. The best thing about it is mental clarity and increased energy and optimism! My anxiety has decreased a lot and it used to plague me for years. It's convincing enough to me that these symtoms are/were related to candida. I'm only 30 and, despite, what others may say, I realised that it is not normal to feel this way. Not normal at all to feel so anxious and weak all the time when everything is going so well in my life. It must have been all those candida toxins affecting my brain and everything else in the body. I just wanted to feel like I did 5-6 years ago and I'm slowly getting there! By the way, I suspect that I had candida as a teenager, but it became seriously aggravated after I moved to USA 6 years ago (I'm from Latvia originally). I had a lot of stress, not so good lifestyle and took broad spectrum antibiotics for sinus problems several times within one year. Most of my candida symptoms started shortly after (about 3 years ago). Now I'm in UK and finally have enough time and other resources to embark on the healing path I've been down with a cold since Friday Unwelcome setback when i was doing so well. My energy is sapped again, but hanging in there. I suggest everybody keep a journal where you record all your successes, good and bad days.. it helps immensely to remind yourself that there is always sunshine after rain One more interesting thing! I work in a lab and about 3 months ago my colleague requested blood samples from all of us for his study. He isolated lymphocytes and then made holes in them with special solution to gain access to the DNA-repair enzyme he was studying. After the first attempt he told me I have no enzyme activity which was very strange. Then he had another idea- to leave my cells in the solution for 10 minutes instead of 5 and see what happens. He had noticed that they do not stain purple in the dye as readily as they should and look quite pale in comparison to other samples. 10 minutes worked and I actually turned out to have a very high enzyme activity Later when reading on candida I came across information on toxins it releases into our blood stream, one of them being acetaldehyde which makes cells go rigid so they cannot perform their functions properly. I had a big AHA moment! Everything makes so much sense now. I'm also asked him to repeat the test again after several months to see if there is any change Sorry for making it so long. I'm so excited about the progress I've made in feeling better that I keep talking about it (and candida in general) to my friend and my bf who, first of all, don't believe in candida and, second, are sick and tired of me talking about it lol Wish everyone best of luck on their path! Guest guest
Hi Ivanda. If I haven't welcomed you to the group before, welcome! Wow! I am so impressed with the progress you are making after only 1 month. Well done! It was very interesting what happened with the blood test regarding enzymes. Do not be concerned about having a cold because it is simply excessive mucus created by the body to get rid of toxins. It is a very common die-off symptom due to the high numbers of toxins being released as candida is being killed off. To help alleviate your cold symptoms see " Cold, Cough & Flu Treatments " ; http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/colds.php Also see articles about die-off, healing reactions, and excessive mucus: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/menu1_2.php http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/menu1_3_3.php http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/heal2.php Ivanda, may I please post your message in our Success Stories ? >Dear all, some thoughts relating to what a wrote as well as intro of myself. > > Before starting candida diet I noticed one thing- I normally ate a quite healthy diet but every time I binged on sweets or alcohol I would crash 2-3 days afterwards. Guest guest
Hi Bee! Thanks for your warm welcome! Until now I've been in the background, reading, experimenting with my diet and so on Of course, you can post my message in the success story section. However, I realize that this is only the beginning of the battle for me if I want to get well. This cold (I actually got it from my colleague) brought some of the symptoms back, but I know its only a passing stage. And thank you for the links. You are doing a great job Bee, giving people so much support and encouragement. I often wonder how do you get all the time and energy to do that! I'll keep you posted about the blood test. I'm very curious myself. I think my relatively quick progress has to do with the lifestyle I was keeping: mostly organic food, lots of veggies and also exercise. It does get tough though when candida raises its head. This time I want to put everything in balance once and for all. I do have a problem giving up complex carbs... I know it is mostly psychological resistance, my mind keeps telling me that if I don't have them at least once a day, I'll be miserable..weak, fatigued, hypoglycemic. I will give it a try, my body is getting used to reduced amounts and should handle it well. It is actually quite amazing not to crave sweets at all. Since I remember myself when the cravings started I never had any control over them. The only diet that ever worked for me was reduced carb (carbohydrate addicts program), where they are allowed only once a day in combination with vegetables and proteins in equal amounts. Makes sense. That must have somewhat inhibited candida growth, plus I was much healthier at that time. I'll be back soon with some questions. Thanks Bee, and everyone for sharing your experience and knowledge. Best! Ivanda <<Hi Ivanda. If I haven't welcomed you to the group before, welcome! Wow! Guest guest
Hi Ivanda, I was just wondering which tests you did for the adrenal glands. My tests came back as normal too for the blood test and urine test but then I did the saliva test and it came back as definite adrenal fatigue. I found out the other tests are considered garbage for testing adrenal fatigue. A very good way to test yourself at home is to sit in a dark room and shine a penlight into one eye for a couple of minutes. If the pupil won't stay contracted and starts to flucuate then it's definitlely adrenal fatigue.

Don't mean to butt in here, but you are actually supposed to shine the light across the eye from the side. Mine starts to fluctuate almost immediately. Miles to go... ~Cathe
