Guest guest
The only reason I am taking the powder is because I don't think I'm not getting enough iron. I think I might be anemic. I'd take the pills but, your right, you have to take a lot. It's just easier to drink it in powder form. That goes without saying. Anyways, my question is, what should my total iron intake be on a daily basis? Right? ==>Hi Jena. You need to take a large quantity of dessicated liver (tablets or powder) in order to supply enough B vitamins, and depending upon the brand you'll need a large amount to supply enough iron and other nutrients. The best alternative source of B vitamins is Nutritional Yeast Flakes; 2 tbls in water daily. ==>What nutrient(s) do you want to get from the liver powder? Anyways, my question is, what should my total iron intake be on a daily basis? ==>Since iron is a mineral it works with other minerals, other nutrients, fats, oil soluble vitamins, omega-3, etc. It is also possible to get too much iron which will accumulate causing problems. IF your blood tests do " not " indicate your body is low on iron you wouldn't need to be concerned. If you think you are anemic because you feel fatigued, remember that fatigue is a die-off symptoms caused by candida - see this article " Fatigue and Candida " ; http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/treat10.php Iron is found mostly in red meats, so concentrating on having more red meats provides plenty of iron for those who are not anemic. However, one member reported that her iron levels went from 4 to over 60 just by doing this program for 6 months. That is another example of how all of the nutrients work together in balancing each other. But it is very important that you take " all " of the supplements and not leave any out. Guest guest
So I'm a little confused on how " essential " liver is in our diet. According to the liver files, it should be one of our supplements, so to speak. . . " Iron Supplements - Make Your Own " states that iron is easily obtained from a good diet containing meats and liver. The last sentence in the first paragraph encourages Candida sufferers to eat liver twice a week, not only for the iron but also for B12 and for other B vitamins. It's my understanding that my recommended iron intake should by around 18 mg daily. For starters, I don't eat red meat every day, but if I did, I get approximately 3 mg of heme iron per 3 oz. Say I ate a 3 oz chicken breast, I'd only get 1.1 mg. It would take a lot of meat and veggies (not including liver) to get the recommended amount of iron - way more than I'm currently eating. It definitely wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if you told me I didn't have to eat liver to meet my iron requirements J.

So the best source is red meat liver and eating 6 ounces twice a week will provide all the iron you require. ==>Awhile back one of our members reported that after being on the diet and supplements only her iron levels went from 4 to over 60, and that was without eating extra liver or red meat. You can probably find her post if you do a search of our message archives. Bee
