Guest guest
Hi folks: Here's a thought (probably not original?). In very round numbers, and assuming the mouse data can be extrapolated to humans, if we forego about ~700 calories a day we may be able to extend our lives by ~50 years. Now seven hundred calories a day from the age of 30 to 80 amounts to 12.8 million calories. The fifty years of additional lifepan achieved is about 26.3 million minutes. So, if the underlying assumptions are correct, then very approximately each extra calorie consumed shortens lifspan by about two minutes. Hmmmmm. Now are you SURE you want to finish that breakfast? : ^ ))) Rodney.
