Guest guest
Can't remember where I read it, but apparently a lot of people are taking acid reducing drugs when what they really need is more HCL. Recommended trying HCl to see if that improved indigestion before going to the acid reducing drugs. That seemed to make sense. Reducing acid too much just causes other problems. Club soda or selter before meals and bromelaine or pineapple juice would be more in line with BTD. > In Wolcott's Metbolic Diet book, for protein types, he recommends for > digestive problems to take HCL (hydrochloric acid) at the start of your > meals. Hi Tamara, I'm not inclined to take any digestive aids besides basic nutrients (which your body can use to make HCl or alkali whichever is needed) because the body is full of feedback loops and so if you add HCl it may help that meal - but it will not let your body overcome the problem, and in fact your system will read the extra HCl to suggest it is making too much and make even less next time. The same applies for antacids. You set up a vicious cycle. Looks like Os are prone to indigestion due to the high protein diet we need, so maybe the thing to do is to look into what ensures adequate HCl production internally. I have not done that yet. Guest guest
Tamara, Wouldn't take anything before having your actual HCL levels checked. How do you know you have low levels? Bromelain/pineapple juice is safe for digestion. Club soda actually takes away some of the acidity taken before meals so use that if you prove to be hyperacidic. As regular O's I tend to have too much HCL and the problem is sometimes bad sometimes worse, so I have to chose my food carefully. I think it is safer to stick to suggeestions in BTD, because those are specially made for your blood group needs. Guest guest
By the way. Sometimes too much Actual HCL is due to lack of minerals.
