Guest guest
Thanks Irene! That sounds yummy! I will have to try that after my next shopping trip along with Dougs spaghetti recipe! Debra NW irene.m@... wrote: OK here goes. Just to warn you I am really bad about measuring so everything is approximate. 5 lb grass fed ground beef, cooked 1 large onion chopped (I use one of the humongous onions. One day I'll measure how much it is chopped) 1 large green pepper chopped 2 24-oz jars Bionaturae Organic strained tomatoes** 1 Tbs salt 3-4 Tbs chili powder 1 tsp ground cloves (more if you like the bite) I sometimes add 1 tsp cumin. Put all the ingredients in a 5 quart pot and simmer for 1 hour. After it has cooked about 30 minutes, I add 3-4 cups shredded zucchini. When it has about 15 minutes to go I add 5 cloves crushed garlic. ** You can use any tomato product that you want. Of course fresh would be best however, I started using Bionaturae back when I was doing SCD. Tomato paste and tomato puree were not allowed on the diet because supposedly they frequently had starch or sugar added which was not reflected on the label. I emailed Bionaturae and they assured me that they did not add sugar or starch to their products. I also like that they come in glass rather than cans. Guest guest
Yeah, the zucchini takes the place of beans and being shredded, they are a great way to sneak vegetables into a 5 year old. I look forward to hearing about your modifications! Irene At 04:24 PM 1/26/2008, you wrote: >Sounds great Irene!!! Guest guest
Greated zucchini is great in chili, also chopped celery, red bell pepper etc. I add them in right at the end like Irene does so they don't cook too long.
