We asked for and received cast iron skillets as a gift, but they

are " pre-seasoned " and the brand is Lodge Logic. They sell them at

Linens-n-Things. I don't know what they are seasoned with.

Should I just return them to the store, and then buy good old-fashioned

ones off of Ebay????

Thanks!

Doug

==>I wouldn't be concerned about what they is seasoned with. You will

be using your own good fats to cook. If you are worried you can re-

season them.

Hi Doug, I have a little story about cast iron pans. About 4-5 years

ago, my mom bought us an imported (cheaper) cast iron griddle. Then,

because we have 4 children, I felt I could use 2, so I bought one from

Amazon (great price!) from Lodge, which are made here in the US.

Well, after using them for these few years, the steel of the cheaper

import one is starting to flake off (not those black flakes from

seasoning), but actual pitting of the metal. My husband has worked

with steel at the shipyard for 30+ years, and explained about the

quality and impurities that may be contained in the import.

The Lodge has held up great and looks as good as well-seasoned! In

fact, I just bought 2 small pans for omelettes. They are pre-seasoned

and I was wondering just what you asked.

Have fun cooking!
