holiday hassles

I went to a wonderful holiday party last night and had an experience that is

probably common to many. I was able to order sensible choices and eat in a

healthy manner until dessert came. Dessert was a huge piece of birthday

cake meted out to each guest.

One of the other guests kept egging me on to eat this huge piece of cake -

with many variations on the same theme: " Come on, we'll diet after the new

year " " You only live once " etc etc etc. This went on and on.

I was annoyed but said nothing. I " tasted " the cake (which is what I

usually do) and kept smiling. After what I thought was a much too long

emphasis on me, she finally (gave up?) stopped the hassling. The hostess

btw, who was wonderful said to me: " Just eat what you're comfortable with " .

Moral of the story: nobody can force feed you or coax you to eat anything

you don't want to eat. You needn't do anything or say anything in reply to

anyone. Just don't do it.
