Guest guest
Hi , I began treatment for hypothyroidism based on a lab result from my regular doctor. TSH 4.87 RANGE 0.400-5.00 This was supposed to be *normal*, but I had lots of hypothyroid symptoms, so I got a second opinion from an endocrinologist. Here is the same test results and the *new* reference range. TSH 4.87 H RANGE 0.300 - 3.00 I've heard the low end of the range being anywhere from 0.300 to 0.500. These standards are being changed, but the labs tend to use the oldest and most lenient standards, so if your lab flagged your result as L, it means that it really was out of range. With all this said, the next step that should happen is a THYROID PANEL test, which would look at free T3 and lots of other key metabolic indicators. In the mean time, are you having any hyper thyroid symptoms like heart palpitations? If so, contact your doctor or go to an emergency room immediately. It could mean that you are taking too much medication, or have a condition that effects your sensitivity to the medication such as Hashimoto's thyroidism. Hope you get it sorted out. I've had a couple mornings where I've had a bad reaction to my medication and was hyper to the point of having mild hallucinations. I reported totally inaccurate numbers to a group and embarrassed myself. I just had to sit back and laugh at myself and realize that I will have short periods of being out of my head until we get the right dose of medication, and get everything stabilized. Hang in there man, it gets better. -Mike wrote: > I just got my TSH results back.......It is 0.30 L > > Does this mean that I need more medication or less??? > >
Guest guest
Thank you Mike... Yes I have the ranges on my lab results.......Just did not know that it was important to include them because I thought that they were pretty much the same from most labs... I am far from having hyper symptoms. I have hypo symptoms...... I am going to ask my dr. to run the full panel...I don't know why she did not this time...she did the last 3 years! Thank you again for your advice!!! Have a good day! Mike Lawson <mlawson66@...> wrote: Hi , I began treatment for hypothyroidism based on a lab result from my regular doctor.
