Guest guest
Hi Barb ~ Just an FYI: I take 14 Isocort pellets per day: 4-4-2-2-2, which is the equivalent of 35mgs. Many state Isocort is not as strong as Cortef, in that it doesn't contain the actual 2.5mg of cortisol per tablet as does Cortef. For me, Cortef was not an option as I react very poorly to synthetics. I found huge relief at this dosage of Isocort. I was able to better assimilate Armour, and was able to raise my dose without any negative reactions. ~ -----Original Message----- From: hypothyroidism Hi Gracia...I'm taking 6 per day. Guest guest
Is Isocort over the counter? I am having my cortisol levels checked on the 19th of this month but I am trying to get it done sooner. I have gain over 8# in a month and my face very round and puffy. I hope I can get my doctor to take my symptoms seriously or i am at the point of self-treating. The depression is starting to set in and I know it is because of the weight gain and the fact that my doctor keeps putting off tests that asked him for over 2 months ago. And I just keep getting worse. Sorry to vent. Guest guest
Hi Venezia ~ Yes, Isocort is over the counter, but it isn't easy to find, except via the internet. I contacted 8 different holistic practitioners and every health-food store within a 1-hour area and only one carried it. I found it a www.naturamart.com. There is another online source someone posted on the adrenals list that does offer it for less, but I don't have the url. I began to self-treat and I am very glad I did. I gained 5 pounds my first month on Armour (in January), along with a myriad of inflammation issues. In May, I started Isocort following the ramp-up schedule on STTM, and by Day 9 my inflammation began to recede. After being on 35mg for about a week, all of my scary airhead spaciness dissipated and the inflammation in my hands/wrists was gone. It just came back ~ ever so slightly ~ this weekend when I was under some extreme stress. It is slowly going away as I begin to calm down. ~ -----Original Message----- Is Isocort over the counter? Guest guest
I am glad Isocort is doing something for you. Cortef is a bioidentical steroid, not to be confused with other pharmaceutical steroids. In fact it is chemically the same as isocort. http://www.drlam.com Gracia Hi Barb ~ Just an FYI: I take 14 Isocort pellets per day: 4-4-2-2-2, which is the equivalent of 35mgs. Guest guest
enough? 50--100mg Iodoral or Lugols? Gracia Thanks, Gracia. I already do iodine..have done the loading test etc. and am a big believer. But I also think there are other things one can do to prevent recurrence. Arimidex is one of them. But the good news is I'm winding it down now...5 years is almost up. BarbF In a message dated 6/9/2008 9:13:36 P.M. In fact it is chemically the same as isocort. Not true. Cortef is synthetic hydrocortisone sodium succinate mixed with calcium stearate, corn starch, lactose, mineral oil, sorbic acid, and sucrose. The hydrocortisone component is bioidentical, although synthetic, just like SYNTHROID! Isocort is extracted from freeze-dried adrenal cortex (soluble fractionation) taken from New Zealand Sheep. This includes several glucocorticoids besides hydrocortisone, plus sheep proteins. It is mixed with echinacea extract, prunus and lomatium dissectum root isolate (kreb concentrate-2%) in a pellet base of lactose and lactase. The manufacturers of Isocort claim that it contains the " equivalent " of 2.5 mg of hydrocortisone, but people using it report that the same mg dose of Cortef is much more potent. This is probably because the other glucocorticoids that they count as equivalent to Cortef, are really less active. Chuck

Guest guest
Yes, I am going to ask for a whole slew of tests this time and I am not going to let him put me off anymore. Guest guest
Well, this has me worried because I am lactose intolerant and I cannot use corn starch because of a sulfite sensitivity. So that only leaves me with Isocort to use? This is becoming very frustrating and scary. So what it Isocort doesn't do the trick for me? Anymore options? Venizia > > > > Not true. Guest guest
Probably not, because every time I increase my iodine, my hypo symptoms get worse. I only do 12.5 mg. Iodoral. When I increase it, I gain weight and all hypo symptoms return. How do I get through that? My saturation as 48% in the loading test -- so obvious deficiency is still there. Any thoughts would be appreciated. BarbF In a message dated 6/10/2008 12:39:12 P.M. Guest guest
Hi Venezia ~ I noticed a modest weight loss with Isocort, maybe 2-3 pounds. Guest guest
I just found that sex hormones help us who are adrenally challenged. Sex hormones have been the hardest for me to figure out but have improved my quality of life 100%. Allopaths don't seem to have a clue about hormones--I would trust anti-aging docs and naturopaths. I go to an MD woman who works with a knowledgeable compounding pharmacist. I also think you should be on enough Armour, 180mg minimum. ppl seem to like saliva tests for hormones. I like the tests from http://www.antibodyassay.com Gracia Yes, I am going to ask for a whole slew of tests this time and I am not going to let him put me off anymore.
