Guest guest
Hi Warren: Very interesting data from the online calorie counter. Their formula assumes that each ten pounds of additional weight for a male requires the consumption of an additional 93 calories a day to maintain weight. It also looks like the number for females is 65 calories per ten pounds additional weight. At least for my size and age, the number of extra calories needed was 93 per ten pounds extra, whether my weight was 100 pounds or 230 pounds. I have emailed them to ask where/how they got their formula. Their numbers come out a lot higher than the numbers Weight Watchers gave me when I called them a couple of years ago. (Which was: " No one pursuing a normal daily life needs more than 2000 calories to maintain their weight, and some do quite happily on 1200 " .) fwiw. Guest guest
Hi folks: This is the reply I got about how the calorie output is calculated: " The calculator uses the Haris-Benedict equation. It is one of the many different ways to calculate someone's calorie needs. ....... You can search on google.com for the equation and will find a lot of websites describing it in depth.
