Guest guest
Hypo T can cause weakened muscles and for your muscles to lose tone and strength and hyper T usually we see smaller muscle size from the increased metabolism that is " eating " the muscles up, so you can also see loss of strength. nancie From: lmasju Sent: Saturday, April 05, 2008 4:42 PM hypothyroidism Subject: hypothyroidism cause muscle spasms, vertebrae subluxation? I wouldn't use it everyday for a pron;onged period even At your dose. cw -- Re: hypothyroidism cause muscle spasms, vertebrae subluxation? Guest guest
you should see a pain management specialist because you are at risk for taking too much Tylenol- medication and it can blow out your liver and kidneys. the maximum dose per day is 4 grams in 24 hours. either you are taking the regular strength dose which is 325 mg or you are taking the extra strength which are 500 mg. but, if you are a slow liver metabolizer, then you could damage your kidneys or liver at a lower dose. how is your liver function? there are many options out there besides nsaids aka Motrin, Aleve, Celebrex that can control your pain. acupuncture is very good a controlling pain. nancie From: babe61ca Sent: Sunday, April 06, 2008 11:43 PM hypothyroidism Subject: Re: hypothyroidism cause muscle spasms, vertebrae subluxation? Guest guest
I also cannot take any anti-inflammatory, and that includes all the meds that you listed. I have allergic reactions to all of them. I too take a lot of Tylenol; a lot of drs are unwilling to prescribe other, possibly more effective, alternatives, even tho they know the potential risk of taking too much Tylenol. Les PS: I have tried extended acupunture treatment, from different drs, and it did nothing for the pain. Guest guest
Deb, Have you ever heard of a salve called " Tiger Balm " ? I use is for headaches and muscle pain. I have a nephew who is a power lifter and he swears by this stuff. It does work for us. You can get it probably in any drug store. I get it at Walgreens if you have one where you are. I do not like taking any pills if I don't have to. This has been a godsend. It comes in a small jar but last a long time. Make sure that you get the extra strength which has a copper color to it. Hope this helps. Guest guest
If you take a lot of Tylenol it's a good idea to take NAC (n acetyl cysteine) along with it. It's the antidote to Tylenol poisoning that hospitals use -- google it (as well as SAMe)- you'll find lots of info on how it can protect your liver. > > I also cannot take any anti-inflammatory, and that includes all the meds > that you listed. Guest guest
Hi Nancie.. I know this sounds crazy but I don't know hhow my liver is working.. Tha was one of my concerns when my eyes were swelling, whether my liver or kidneys were acting up but the doctor said it had nothing to do with that.. I take 2/500mg each time.. I was seeing a pain specialist and tons of other doctors. Up too last year I was using a walker because they had me on so many pain meds and neuro drugs that I would mess up anohter joint from not walking properly.. I have been on vioxx, celebrex, gabapentin, duragesic patches, canabis spray, and a tons of others in between these.. I can not take arthristis meds or advil or ibprophen.. I have been to accupuncturists, reflextology, message therapists and all have adverse effects on me in some way.. My body does not seem to like anything and now i am begining to feel like it don't like me, period.. Deb Re: hypothyroidism cause muscle spasms, vertebrae subluxation? Guest guest
Hi Deb- what is your diagnosis? if you are tasking 2 of the 500 mg x 5-6 times a day, then you are overdosing on the Tylenol and putting your liver and kidneys at risk for failure. what happened when you has acupuncture? have you tried bio-feedback? I notices you tried cannabis spray, have you tried medical marijuana? it does work really well with pain issues, especially nerve related pain. It has worked for me. a pain pump may also work well in you. Pain management has come along way and I just find it inexcusable hat a provider allows a person to remain in pain. unfortunately, women often do not respond to pain management protocols the same way as men do. the theories are that it has to do with our hormones and the neuro-chemical pathways in the brain that are wired differently then in men. nancie From: babe61ca Sent: Monday, April 07, 2008 9:46 AM hypothyroidism Subject: Re: hypothyroidism cause muscle spasms, vertebrae subluxation? Guest guest
I wouldn't say it gets hot but when you first put it on, it does get warm but then turns cold. Yes, there is a smell. If you are sensitive it may be a problem for you. It is kind of like menthol or something like that but that also subsides. Hope you can try it and that it works for you. Guest guest
Hi Nancie.. I have a laundry list of diagnosis.. lol Arthritis, Fibro, gout, degenerative disc, RLS to list a few of the things I have been diagnosed with.. I have never done bio feedback but it seems when I do accupuncture I get worse. I can actually feel the needles the whole ime they are in and then I am miserable for days after it.. I have tried message therapy but my body can not tolerate any pressure and the pain get worse or moves.. I feel like an idiot most of the time because nothing seems to work for me and most people think I am just making all this up to get sympathy.. I wish there was a miracle cure.. I have tried the medical marijuana but it make be sick to my stomach.. I stopped taking any narcotic type meds because I found it messed with my brain but did not touch the pain, so I would lay like a zombie but could still feel the intense pain.. Guest guest
another good pain management option is what we call a tens unit. the newer models have a dual mode that helps with edema and pain. it also helps to improve the circulation of the injured area. I have one, I use it fot injured joints; post op pain control; pain control in general for specific joints.
