Guest guest
the 24 hour urine test kit that she uses is not from any hospital or even local lab. it is from Meridian Valley labs which are based in washington state and the test itself takes 3 weeks to run in the lab. ergo it takes 3 weeks to get the results. Re: Re: Getting warm I asked my doctor to test for adrenals. What would it say on the lab sheet? I bought it from this natural medicine/pharmacy called " pharmaca " . Guest guest
It's great that you're doing well, and I guess possible that the product you're taking is providing useful benefits. But I don't see how it could " ...perform the same actions as the steroids... " IMHO it would almost have to act in a _different_ manner than a steroid. However, I must admit I'm massively ignorant on the subject. The only thing I've seen is advertising copy, and that is notoriously inaccurate. In any event, I'm not as enamored of " Chinese " herbal medicine as some people; especially now that we know they put all kinds of materials into food, medicines and toys that are not allowed in the US. Guest guest
http://www.purecaps.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=PHY1 Nancie, please read the phrase adrenocorticotrophic in the description of this product from the manufacturer. Also this explanation of cortico steroid stimulation. http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/adrenocorticotrophic+hormone I believe your product stimulates the corticosteroids in your body. It may be good for some people, and I am not putting it down. My tests say that I am not deficient in the things that would indicate such a condition. Guest guest
jam I don't think you know enough about chinese medicine. I asked my chinese medicine provider who also happens to be my dentist and she ALso okayed this product. chinese medicine and herbal medicine has been around for over 2000 years. I trust it. I have used chinese herbs and accupunture Many Many times and it has worked for me. I even use accupunture instead of lidocaine when filling a cavity. she sticks in the needles into my feet and hands and hooks it up to an electrical source and it gives me complete anesthesia and I even have a working mouth afterwards! Many herbs have the same chemical properties as other substances as in steroids. all steroids are is a bunch or molecules made into a chemical substance that produces a result in the body. ANY HERB can do the same thing just in a different manner. These herbs produce the same results as the steroid but just in a chemical reaction/ pathway.. they are not going to give anyone the serious adverse reactions that cortef or cortisol can on the body whether they are in physiological doses or not. when you have working adrenals and your body is under extreme stress- what happens- your body produces a higher quanity of natural steroid; releases it. the syndrome is called Cushing's syndrome and that excess steroid in your body can produces adverse reactions like: diabetes; increased belly fat; osteoporosis; thin fragile skin, etc. . nancie RE: Re: Getting warm > > It's difficult to sort this all out, but I'm trying. > Roni > > Dusty <dusty@...<mailto:dusty%40brookehurst.net> > <mailto:dusty%40brookehurst.net><mailto:dusty@...<mailto:dusty%40bro\ okehurst.net> > <mailto:dusty%40brookehurst.net>>> wrote: > Roni, you are wise to beware of steroids and become very informed > before you > consider supplementing should you have a problem which might dictate their > use. Guest guest
the point is that they do not cause the adverse reactions on the body that steroids do. anything that works on the adrenals are going to heal the adrenals that will stimulate the adrenals to excrete " cortisol " . taking these herbs is not the same thing as taking more steroids. taking cortef and the like is like taking a double dose of steroids, because eventually your adrenals recover and start producing their own " cortisol " and if you are still taking the supplemental steroids- you will be taking double. at least with Chinese herbs or any other herbal compound that does not give you the adverse side effects as pure steroids give you- you will NOT be taking a " double dose of steroids " . all you will doing is to stimulate the adrenal organ to do it's job- NOT adding to it. Guest guest
hmm- well starrie is a dentist and she is a Chinese medicine provider. she went through graduate school for both. I would check out a Chinese medical college to see if they have any dual trained providers. starrie also does acupuncture on the side, too. she has healed my rt. torn rotator cuff in my shoulder just with acupuncture for 8 weeks. I did not go see my orthopedist because I knew he would want to inject steroids into my joint and I refuse to have anymore steroid injections any where in my body. it healed up perfectly. Guest guest
You know , that in this instance I have to agree with you. We don't really know the integrity of the Chinese firms to put into the products the correct ingredients, even less than our own companies. At this point with all the shady things they have been doing to food and pet food, who knows what they would do with supplements and/or herbs. It's not the Chinese themselves as a group that are the problem, just unscrupulous individuals (like here) who have no heart and will hurt anyone for the almighty buck (or yen). Guest guest
herbal therapy is different. it is made from herbs which are loose and then made into tinctures and teas. besides you are speaking about products Made in china and exported here. Chinese herbs are grown here and used here. the chinese herbalists that I use grow their herbs here in the USA, not in china. I am curious, would you be comfortable giving your child chinese herbs if they are grown here? Guest guest
any Chinese herb can be grown anywhere in the world- just because it is Chinese in origin doesn't mean it is not grown here. it starts with a seed- it is not manufactured in a bloody industrial plant. the seeds are grown here and in Europe. the Germans use Chinese herbs as part of natural medicine. Guest guest
Nancie, believe it or not I do know what a seed is. No one is contesting the herbs, rather the people and/or companies that fill the bottles. There are many products that have fillers and don't have the full complement of herbs listed. If they do have fillers, we don't know what they are using for fillers. Guest guest
the point is: is that Chinese herbs from reputable sources i.e. natural medicine clinics and herbalists and made in American labs either do not use filers or use ones made Here. just because it says Chinese on the bottle does not mean it is from china and therefore unsafe. I asked my Chinese provider and she said that if the herbs are gotten from the aforementioned sources they will be safe. Because unless you go to china town directly and buy herbs from a back alley joint- the herbs you buy will be safe. on the other side of the argument: as far as safety issues argument of American vs. Chinese vs. anywhere else in world " s herbs- you could say that about any natural medicine product- even if it is made here and/or made in Europe- who knows what goes on in labs here [ all it takes is ONE person] and in labs in Europe.... Guest guest
That is correct. It pays to be very careful no matter what herbs anyone buys anywhere.
