AJ,

I take magnesium citrate. This form of magnesium is supposed to be VERY

bio-available. Here is a link for exactly what I take...

http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1 & pid=691 & at=0

I take 1,000mg a day on the advice of my doctor, but you should know if you

start out taking that much it will cause you stomach upset.

I have never heard of the Atlantic brand of sea salt, but I use this

brand...

I was told that I should be using UNREFINED sea salt. I just got Atlantic

unrefined Sea Salt. Have people used this brand?

My doctor told me to get Magnesium. I believed he said Magnesium Glycate

(spelling?) I can't find it anywhere. Anyone use it? If so, which brad is

good

and where do you get it?

Thanks!

Hi AJ,

My doctor also told me to get magnesium of a type that I couldn't find, and so

I

have magnesium Oxide 500mgs by PharmAssure. I showed it to the doctor, and

he said it was fine. I use kosher salt. I haven't seen your brand of sea salt,

and

don't know anything about sea salt anyway. Except for the refining and

processing,

all salt is pretty much the same.

The key thing is that is is UNPROCESSED.

I get my " Celtic " Sea Salt from my local health

food store.

Hahahahaha! I could NOT figure out what you were talking about.

So glad you clarified. I don't know about the sea salt. I'm sure it

is good, but I have never used it.

AJ-

I will use magnesium occassionally to help me sleep. My Mom, however, takes

some every night. She takes about 275 mg. I think that 400 mg is 100% of your

daily requirement or something? I don't really know what glycate means, more

easily absorbed or something perhaps? Best of luck and I would suggest

starting it on a day you don't have to do much, or just start taking it at night

-

it'll really make you sleepy!

I gotta tell ya, there is a big difference in the tastes between

natural unprocessed sea salt and refined grocery store salt.

The grocery store stuff is kind of biting and hurts when I have it on

my tongue...it's kind of creepy. The natural Celtic sea salt I use in

everything actually tastes like salt, it tastes good, and I will

ocassionally dip my finger into the jar and take a taste. It's

delicious and works so well in cooking and as one would use grocery

store salt. It's totally delicious.

400mg may and well be 100% of your daily requirement...but since hypo people

do not absorb very well at all a stronger dose may be called for.

My doctor, a neuro-endocrinologist has me taking 1,000mg daily of magnesium

citrate.

Notice any difference with the mag oil? I haven't tried it personally.

My doctor (now) has degrees in neurology, behavioral neurology,

endocrinology, immunology, nutrition, and psychiatry....honest to goodness

all-in-one-doctor! As you can imagine he is not cheap. He is not holistic in

the spiritual sense, but he does not overly push pills, he try's to heal the

HPA and HPT axis to give your own endocrine system a chance first though.

Unlike other doctors he believes in vitamins and minerals along with careful

amounts of medication. He does say that 80% of the patients that see him for

psych problems are hypothyroid, so he treats them for that FIRST.

He is treating my adrenals with vitamin C with Rosehips, a specific

multivitamin from Vitamin Shoppe, Lugol's, B-100, magnesium citrate, vitamin

D3, Cortef, Armour, and a few others I would have to look in my vitamin

holder. He has said it will take about a year for my adrenals to heal and

that it took many years to get this way so to expect it to take a while to

get fixed. He does not sell any supplements or medications personally, he is

not a " spa " type of doctor.

We are starting injectable testosterone and HCG within a month or so....so

you can see that absolutely everyone of my hormones is royally screwed up!

No wonder 5 hospitalizations (one for 9 days), 4 angiograms, 2 stents, 2

colonoscopies, etc, all before the age of 50.

But no more! I have taken my health into my own hands, reading everything,

firing the HMO 5 minute office Prozac pushers, etc!

I now believe the various hormones are the key to health...heart disease,

cholesterol, mood, cancer, Alzheimer's, autism, etc.
