Guest guest
Remember: omit a whole food group at your own risk. Here's some more info on this subject sent to me by a very well respected CRONIE: This ranks all the plant food groups (vegetables, fruits, nuts/seeds, roots, legumes, grains) by ability to reduce iron ions (Fe3+ to Fe2+ i.e.,^ the FRAP assay), which is different from the ORAC score most people already know about. The study is great because it gives good scores to legumes and grains, which many people lately seem to feel are not worthwhile additions to the diet. A Systematic Screening of Total Antioxidants in Dietary Plants http://www.nutrition.org/cgi/content/full/132/3/461 It is necessary to click on the table links to see the rankings by class type. Unfortunately, the data are provided on a weight basis and not by calories, so they can be misleading without the calorie conversion.
