Guest guest
Another suggestion (if it is possible) would be to do like another list I was on did and include the privacy 'clause' at the end of every email. Patti R. ( ) a suggestion there is a setting on the files that make it possible for a file to be forwarded to all the members on a biweekly or monthly basis. Maybe we can have a file with some rules, like the one for keeping posts on the list unless we get permission first, go to members regularly. That way, new members who are not aware of the rules, can have a message in their e-mail about it. Hugs, Peg

Guest guest
OK, I'll play... as long as I don't have to provide scientific citations for my food choices ;-) >1. Heavily emphasize. High fiber, vitamin/nutrient dense foods. carrots, broccoli, onions (red), bell pepper, squash, sprouts (sunflower) apple (granny smith), orange (navel) good fats like olive oil green tea (gunpowder), oolong tea, sucralose sweetened lemonade > 2. Emphasize. Kefir w/fruit (blueberry, blackberry, strawberry) mega-muffin (sherm's), binging brownie (sherm's), home roasted decaff (water process Ethiopian harrar) coffee. Beef (lean)/chicken (skinless thigh)/salmon(canned wild) in recipes in moderate amounts. Garlic (raw) > 3. Are non-committal about. rice (brown log grain), sweet potato, too many walnuts, alcohol (very dark stout home brew), corn & beans in recipes in moderation, Home roasted coffee (too many origins to list). Egg (hard boiled). Jalapeno, habanera, japone, chilies, etc. > 4. Avoid when possible. supplements (of the week), vegetable oils, saturated fat (except coconut in moderation) > 5. Avoid like the plague. trans-fats, sugar, grains, simple carbs, cold weather, doctors (before the mid 19th century they didn't even wash their hands... they were a major vector for spreading infection). She is open minded about the idea. Would there be any interest in PARTICIPATING (!) in this? I.E. Would a significant number of members be prepared to supply their preferences to such a 'database' if I were able to figure out how to set it up? ________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by Internet Pathway's Email Gateway scanning system for potentially harmful content, such as viruses or spam. Guest guest
I like the walford pyramid mostly pg 49 of "the antiaging plan". add brown rice. see comments: ----- Original Message ----- From: Rodney Sent: Saturday, January 17, 2004 4:52 PM Subject: [ ] A Suggestion Hi folks:INPUT PLEASE."Here is a suggestion:> > I would find it fascinating to peruse data for various individuals in> the CR group indicating their attitude to food products under each of> the following five headings:> > Those foods they:> > 1. Preferably steamed. all fruits, especially papaya, pineaplle, prunes; ff dairy products, avocado. coffee, italian spice group, EMPHASIZE: pistachios (beta-sitosterol), all non-starchy veggies, (green beans), peas; whole grain home made stuff, especially ground-whole-wheat- kernel breads; 1 tbls soy oil, ginger, lemon. Ocassional: seafood gumbo, potato pancakes, egg whites, corn, sweet pots, white pots, desalted bacon. Demphasize: dried beans, all meats, all processed food products except tortilla chips in soy oil. NON-COMMITTAL: tofu, beer, liquor, AVOID WHEN POSSIBLE: Salt (period); walnuts; anything with a very high fat content including egg yolk, butter. > AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE: Margarines (no matter WHAT the advertising> claims); mayonnaise; tropical oils; anything deep fried; store bought pastries, pies, donuts, cookies; chocolate products without cocoa butter as oil (that's all but hersheys). the words 'palm' or 'hydrogenated' on the ingredient list; egg yolks."The purpose of such a list would be to make available members' food preferences in a single, readily accessible, location at the site, to act as a source of ideas for each other. It might also be a source of discussion if, for example, someone is found to have placed an item in the avoid-like-the-plague category that others have placed in the 'emphasize' category. Thanks for any responses, positive or otherwise!Rodney.
