Guest guest
Sam- I do note the winking face, but will comment that I skip the tofu when eating miso soup. I was a strict vegetarian for like 5 years preceding the hypoT diagnosis and now avoid soy whenever possible. P.S. your wedding sounds like it is going to be a total blast, take pictures for us!!! Also, I totally get that the environment sucks so bad these days. I walk around here looking at sooo many people that I think could have a thyroid problem and talk to so many friends that describe the exact symptoms of it. Maybe Michigan is the fat state partially due to all the hypoT people. All the environmental factors and all the sh*t people are dumping in these lakes I wouldn't be surprised for a second that it was really messing people up. Ah, I have to go pick up my mom from work ... I'll read these links later. Thanks! Peace, Miso withOUT tofu, right? I guess if you ate a 100 pound bale of seaweed from Japan every day you'd be totally fine. _http://www.jbc.http://www.jbc.http://wwhtt_ (http://www.jbc.org/cgi/reprint/102/1/91.pdf) _http://www.liebertohttp://wwwhttp://www.http://wwhttp://www.l_ (http://www.liebertonline.com/doi/abs/10.1089/thy.2004.14.836?) cookieSet=1 & <WBR>journal<WBR One of my sisters ate tofu three times a day for years and made herself hypO. You'd think with a sister like me she'd listen to what I had to say about that...well, she'd reduced her tofu intake to twice a day now. ARGH! Every once in a while she'll call and ask for help, but totally disregard what I tell her and email to her. So I'm thinking of going to visit her in Las Vegas when my fiance and I ride our motorcycles down there to get married this summer. I'm going to surprise her with a case of Iodoral and a ton of Vitamin C. Maybe I could get her a membership in Soy Eaters Annonymous..could , we are literally bombarded with so many things that can affect our body iodine every single day. Stuff like fluoride in toothpaste, mouthwash, and city water, that new car smell is bromide (darn it), mercury in vaccines, soy hidden in every day food products, lack of iodine in soil that grows food for the nation, bromide in flour and commercial breads, TV dinners, restaurant food, percolates, jet fuel, yadda yadda... It would be nearly impossible for any human being living in the United States to avoid all contact with things like that, darn it. Read about TPO: _http://en.wikipediahttp://en.http://en.wikipeht_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thyroid_peroxidase) Then think what happens if there is not enough iodine available for the normal amount of TPO... Guest guest
I always not people with goiters, and with hypo symptoms that swear their doctors say they are " fine " , but meanwhile they are taking a sh*tload of antidepressants, and pain pills. The fact that crap is being dumped into our water, air and food is too real. People think that it would be a sacrifice to give up an SUV, I wonder which sacrifice would seem greater, not driving a gas guzzling SUV or not breathing? Another thing, the exhaust from some vehicles that don't have good systems on them and the tobacco smoke that is exhaled and trailed all over the place are basically the same compounds. Again, smoking, bad cars or breathing? Roni bear339@... wrote: Sam- I do note the winking face, but will comment that I skip the tofu when eating miso soup. Guest guest
Those links basically compared various sea weeds for their iodine content. Michigan is in the " goiter belt " of the US. My son lives near Battle Creek, my mother worked in , My dad worked in Lansing, I went to Western Michigan Univ and MSU, and I grew up on 65 acres in Barry County snow drifts...we moved to SE Michigan in the winter of 1959 and I removed myself from that part of the country as soon as I was ambulatory. :-o So ny and I plan to get married by an Elvis. hahaha Seriously...he is just like me, but a guy, and way taller. I couldn't have asked for a better 'man-o-my-dreams' if I created him myself with my junior chemistry set. Guest guest
LoL, you're funny Sam. And I am really super happy for you and your boy-toy ;-) I bet your wedding will be a blast to say the least! Is he going to buy you iodine as a present? lol. Are you going to go anywhere for a honeymoon or are you just going to hang out in las vegas? Take care! Those links basically compared various sea weeds for their iodine content. Guest guest
I think the 1300 mile motorcycle ride to Las Vegas and then back will be enough. He has a motorcycle and I have one, too. I think we're planning to ride down thru the mountains and then on the way back we're coming up thru San Francisco. However there may be a stop at Disneyland, too. By the way, he takes Iodoral, too. <grin> Yesterday morning, the day after my birthday, as I was getting ready to return to my place after a wonderful day and evening, he told me to look in the mirror after he told me my hair looked thicker. I utter horror I'd lost all my hair when my healthy thyroid was destroyed, and after getting myself healthy only a little more than half of it ever returned. A little bit ago (couple months maybe) I tested and started treating low aldosterone (another adrenal hormone that hardly anyone hypO ever tests or treats), which should have been caught by the myriad of ex doctors I've had previously...I had pretty obvious symptoms - obvious and glaring with red flags waving and neon lights flashing, and even after I suggested there was something else going on and I needed testing for minerals/nutrients, I was shot down. It took my new naturopath to get me tested...and so I have been treated now for low aldosterone for around a couple months. So I look in the mirror and start to frantically examine all parts of my scalp, kind of like a mad woman...and it appears that the rest of my hair is growing back. 1.5 inches of new growth... WOW! I am very very pleased... Sam (thyroidless since 1990 and finally hairy) > > > LoL, you're funny Sam.
