Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just joined this group as I was browsing through info on the internet about hypothyroidism thanks to the lab results I just got back. As I stated on the subject line my TSH came back at 31.8 and my doctor ordered t3,t4, and thyroid uptake tests to follow up my results. In short I'm 31, I have always been an athlete, and for the past 6 months or so I've been tired, sleepy, generally out of energy, cold, ad not feeling right. I contributede all of it to being lazy. I didn't even know I was getting a thyroid test, as my nurse practitioner ordered it as a part of my routine annual exam. So, right now I feel pissed. I was hoping that the test result was a mistake but after browsing around on the internet, I can't deny that all my " symptoms " that I blamed myself on for all these months along with the fact that for the first time in my life I had to fight to keep weight off, all point to the fact that the results are probably accurate. So, I have a follow up on Thursday to get the results of the follow up tests. I would apreciate any information on what questions to ask, what tests to request, medication info etc. that anyone can give me. Most of the web-sites are so matter of fact and general, that I would love to hear feedback from others who have went through all this... Thank you, Iina
Guest guest
Hi Iina, Welcome to the group. Although, I am sorry you are having to deal with disease. You probably can be considered lucky that your TSH was so high because the doctor could not deny that you have hypoT. So many people have to deal with that. So you will be able to get the medical help you need. One website, if you have not already heard about it is stopthethyroidmadness.com. It has an incredible amount of info: tests to ask for, supplements to take and also how to talk to your doctor. That is just a very small idea of what is on this website. The best thing you can do for yourself is to get educated about this disease and the best ways to treat it. Many of the people on this list use " natural thyroid " but you will have to decide for yourself what might work for you. You may have to try one and then maybe another before you know for sure what will work for you. Keep us posted on what you find out. We would be interested to hear what your doctor has to say and also what your test results were. Good luck to you and know we are all here for you.
