Guest guest
Hello Emiley, Challenge is a great word it works very well for me in a lot of areas not just CMT. When someone is refering to someone whom has MR I instead use Mentally Challenged, or physical difficulties, Physically challenged, Learning difficulties, Challenges in the areas of learning. It is a great word and it does not make others feel ill at ease. Yes, it does take trial and error to see what works for one individually and what does not. I for one was quite stubborn to say in the least and kept trying to do things that would make me end up hurting myself in the long run. Now I have learned to take care of myself and do what I enjoy and be able to do it without burning out so fast as far as energy goes. The key for me is to conserve energy that is most important. I just try to see things like this: we only have one life to live and we might as well enjoy it, instead of sitting around feeling sorry for ourselves as that gets us no where. We all have the blues from time to time and this is healthy, but we must deal with the challenges we have, for we all have them and we must move on and be greatful for what we do have. Thank You, Heidi OUR VISION at is at work with meaning, followed by action! We define VISION as = Vitality Inherent in Stewardship with Informational Originality relating to the Neuromuscular Disease (CMT). Charcot Marie Tooth Universal Services - that's - for you! Guest guest
Perhaps challenges are too competitive sounding, but let's say a weekly goal. I think what kind would be dependent upon the interests of the group. From my perspective as a newbie to CRON, a worthwhile challenge would be getting in 10 servings of fruits/veggies per day. This goal reflects my approach to CRON which is to focus on the optimum nutrition aspect of CRONING as opposed to the calories. However, I suspect that for others, other goals might make more sense., e.g., how well someone is doing at maintaining CRON in a nonCRONING family; total number of ORACs per day; total number of calories per day. It doesn't have to a competitive thing at all...just a way to get folks visiting here routinely, posting routinely and talking about their experiences routinely. Guest guest
Spencer was hit by a car!? I am so sorry to hear that. It reminds me that CMT is just a backdrop to all the other challenges that life throws at us. He must be a really brave guy to go through the bedrest for broken legs and now surgery. I was on 2 mo. bedrest when expecting Gavin and it drove me nuts! Sally
Guest guest
Jim-I agree wholeheartedly with your post. I too have been reluctant to use new tools and each time it is getting a little easier. I used my scooter for the first time at a festival where I knew I would see people that have never seen me in it. It was pretty cool, people were sooo much nicer and considerate! I definately go through times where I get really scared about all my circumstances, CMT just being one of them, but somehow I always pull through " this too shall pass " !
