Guest guest
Since the latest survey I realized I have not posted in quite a while. To be honest I have been a little embarrassed as I have somewhat fallen off the CRON diet. I still eat healthy and mostly what I should eat in the CRON but have eating more than I should of candy, deserts, and not really controling myself when we eat out. Having two growing daughter in the house (8 and 10) and not restricting what they eat (although they eat a tremendous amount of healthy foods) this is difficult not to do. Needless to say since October 2002 I have gained 15 lbs to 175. I was 205 (male 5 " 9 " ) May of 2001 when I started CRON and got down to 160 only to see myself creep back up. Maybe creep is a bad word, more likely three distict times when I gained about 5 lbs in a few weeks, holidays 2002, holidays 2003, and summer 2003 when my wife had surgery and life was stressful. I have tried many times to resume and I do well for a few days then end up snacking or over eating. I realize calories are the key but I feel low weight is important especially when I was at 160 before at about 1800-2000. So here are some questions 1) Words of advice from veterans. Have been where I have been and how to I restart or maybe better stay the course. I have read the tips for newbees but i think I need a little. 2) How do CRONies with youngsters like myself in the house survive. Almost impossibile to me. Thanks for any advice. Guest guest
Hi Joe: thanks for being forthcoming. You are probably helping many others in the same situation. Surely it is difficult for anyone who has a family with small children or people in the family who keep temptations around the house. In your case though that doesn't seem to be your problem. You cite three times that you regained your weight and lost your resolve. Two of these were holiday periods. One was a traumatic situation (your wife's surgery). I think anyone would be tempted to forget CRON during traumatic times such as your wife's surgery so I would say do whatever it is that helps you get through such hard times (which hopefully are rare in one's life). That leaves only holiday periods (because at all other times you do just fine even with the small children). I would suggest some " insurance " when the holidays roll around. Fill up on CRON snacks before all tempting holiday parties, meals, or eating out during that time of year. If you do that you will eat more lightly at those tempting situations. Many of us have posted that such a strategy works!. You could also have with you your own foods/CRONIE treats to substitute for the unhealthy foods - see our file " travel kit or food on the run " . If you eat for example, a REBAR ( & they're very good) you would be less likely to stuff yourself on desserts with sugar and other no-nos. I hope this helps and thanks for posting. Let us hear from you again soon. on 1/26/2004 9:14 AM, ph Fernandez at fernaj@... wrote: > more likely three distict > times when I gained about 5 lbs in a few weeks, holidays 2002, > holidays 2003, and summer 2003 when my wife had surgery and life was > stressful.
