If so, then I wonder about laboratory ranges where you live as compared to most of what is reported here. You might want to do a bit of research to understand the differences between numbers and medications where you are to the U.S. That is, it seems most of the people who write here are from the U.S., with some being from the UK. From my point of view a TSH of 100 is astronomically high. That is, if it compares with the numbers used in the U.S. From what you are describing, I would first want to make sure I have the correct diagnosis. You might want to get a second opinion. Otherwise, it is not unusual to have ups and downs until one is stablized on medications. From my own experience adjusting to a new level of medication takes a minimum of 6 weeks. It took me about two years to get stabilized. Abbey
Guest guest
Hi Abbey, I am from India; I had rechecked those values in two different centres and they both reported the same stating my case as " severe " hypothyroidism. TSH over 100 is reported by many... it has come down heavily now... Your statement of taking about 6 weeks for the dosage to settle in is heart-warming :-) Oh by the way, the supposed normal range of TSH in India is 0.2 to 5.5. Thanks and regards. Guest guest
Prasanth, Thank you so much for all of this detailed information .... it really helps us help you as much as we can. Okay here goes ... 1.) Your TSH was ridiculously high when you got diagnosed ... had you had hypoT symptoms for a long time before? 2.) Can you give us your exact free T4 and T3 numbers? They can be in the normal range but unless they are both in the upper quadrants it isnt good enough. 3.) A TSH of 25 is just too high. Do you have hypoT or hyperT symptoms? If you feel totally fine perhaps you need to get your pituitary checked. 4.) Do you have hypothyroidism or autoimmune hypothyroidism (hashimoto's)? I am assuming hashi's because it is more common and your numbers are jumping around like this. With hashi's you are (in Chuck's words) aiming at a moving target, thus your TSH, etc. will jump around. Sorry this was kinda long, lol. --- Prasanth Rajan <pr_rajan123@...> wrote: > Hi, > > I was diagnosed with Hypothyoidism with TSH over > 100 about 6 months > back. Guest guest
Hi, Thanks for your suggestions. Here are my answers: 1. Yes, since I " now " know the symptoms of Hypothyroidism, I can state that my symptoms were ignored (rather wrongly diagnosed to be some neurological problem) for more than 6 months...:-( 2. I do not have my latest FT4, my FT3 stands at 0.91ng/dL (it is just above lower minimum level) 3. I do have hyopT symptoms like losing concentration, bit of dizziness, pull in hands and legs etc of late and that was when I went for this check-up (this was when I was on 100-75 dosage; I am a lot better now though with 100-125 dosage) 4. I have no idea is I have the Hashi's - but I will look into this and get a test done. Once again, thanks a ton. Regards. Guest guest
if you are feeling better that's great. Many people feel best with their free T3 and free T4 in the upper quadrants of the ranges. I would call and ask for copies of all your lab results. By getting these copies you can see if they tested for hashimoto's thyroiditis and if you have it. Best of luck, --- Prasanth Rajan <pr_rajan123@...> wrote: > Hi, > > Thanks for your suggestions. > Here are my answers: > 1.
