Guest guest
Another cabbage roll recipe, I have some in the crock pot right now and they smell divine. 1 lb ground pork 1 lb ground beef minced onion, lots salt & pepper Prepare by rolling the meat mixture into the cabbage leaves. I've also softened my cabbage leaves by using the microwave. Put the entire head in for a few minutes, that softens the head sufficiently to remove the outer leaves...this morning, I was able to peel the leaves right off the head without having to soften at all. Nice to not have to do that step. Fill the cabbage leaf, roll and tuck into the pot. Cover with the outer leaves to prevent burning. Then top with canned tomato juice. It thickens beautifully into a sauce with the slow cooking. Can't wait till supper. Helen [ ] Re: Cabbage Bread? How about Cabbage Rolls? LOL Hello , Crockpot Cabbage Rolls is yummy and fun to make. They pack well in a wide mouth thermos for traveling to work too. Have you tried them yet? Crockpot Cabbage Rolls 12 large cabbage leaves 1 egg beaten 1/4 cup finely chopped onion 1 tsp seasalt 1/4 tsp pepper 1 lb ground beef/pork 1 cup grated cauliflower 1 (8oz size) tomato sauce 1/4 tsp green stevia 1 tbsp lemon juice Immerse cabbage leaves in large kettle of boiling water for three minute or until limp then drain. Combine egg, onion, seasalt, pepper, beef/pork and cauliflower. Place about 1/4 cup filling mixture in center of each leaf, fold in sides and roll ends over meat and place each one in crockpot as you make them, nestling them together on the bottom of the crockpot, then stacking them on top of each other as you go. Combine tomato sauce with stevia and lemon juice and pour over cabbage rolls. Cover and cook on slow 7-9 hours. Enjoy! :-) Debra NW <renee_crichlow@...> wrote: Does anyone have a recipe for cabbage bread that is safe to use?
Guest guest
Lovely receipes... Helen I would HIGHLY recommend doing some reading about how dangerous microwaves actually are. Guest guest
I know , thanks, mine is actually in the basement and gets used once a month if that. My microwaving days are behind me. This morning I was pleased to be able to peel off the leaves and think maybe it's because the cabbage has been in the fridge since Christmas, which was the last time I made cabbage rolls. Guest guest
My mom makes these as a traditional Polish food called golabki or golumpki. I have the recipe around somewhere ... it's been a few years since I made them. I'll look for it later! Guest guest
Yeah, I think there are many variations in different European countries. We always pronounced it " gwumpki " by the way. :-) Zack On Thu, 24 Jan 2008, Doug wrote: > My wife from Russia makes these, where they are called " galupsi " > > >> >> >> My mom makes these as a traditional Polish food called golabki or >> golumpki.
