Your Father in law sounds like a good candidate for a

fall. With older people, falling is the most

significant reason that they loose their independence.

He does sound like he needs some strengthening

exercises to make sure he doesn't have a fall.

The surgery is a very personal thing, and I think most

will say that he will know when the time is right. At

his age he doesn't have to worry as much about having

a revision and how long the joint would last. (I was

in my 30's when I had my first hip done.)

Sometimes it's difficult as you can find that you are

withdrawing from every day activities without even

realising how much it is happening. I had withdrawn

so much from everyday activities that I marvel that 17

years later I am able to do so much more. Life is

much more fun if you can be active and do the things

you want to do.

When I had my hip revised in 2004 I watched a number

of other " hippies " in their 80's and 90's who seemed

to recover faster than I did, so don't let that be too

much of a concern.

Good luck to your Father in law, what ever he decides.

Re: being elderly and falling. I had a massage therapist who said that she had a patient once who was 73 & in a wheelchair. She worked on him for a year (and I think he got some help from PT's) and he took up running! There's always hope!

Hello,

I am new to this board. I have a dear friend who has twin daughters

that they just adopted from Korea. They have both just been

diagnosed with Hypothyroid ... and placed on medications. They are

very interested in treating with other methods as well but don't know

where to turn. They know I am big into alternative treatments for a

number of issues and asked for my help.

I have been reading this board for a time to glean info on

hypothyroidism for my own child ... she doesn't fit the definition

classically although she does have some signs ...so I have been

quietly learning.

However they asked me if I knew what to do for their precious little

ones...

So my question is ... Does anyone know of a good natural pathic doc

who is also a MD that is familiar with and treat hypothroidism in and

around the Kansas City/Olathe area?

These girls are just one... And they really hate condeming them to a

lifetime of heavy medication ... but they also understand the

seriousness of their situation left untreated. Currently they are

meds...

Thanks for your help.
