Guest guest
Hi guys: Just for information ......... I did a couple of searches, one on www.askjeeves.com and the other on Google to try to find out what the lowest BMI is that is compatible with survival. One source described a BMI of 18 to 20 as 'mild starvation', and a BMI below 16 as 'severe starvation'. Another described patients during the Somalia famine of 1993 who survived, but only under medical care, with a BMI of 10. The article further noted that a BMI of 12 had previously been regarded as the lower limit of survival. Another said that a BMI below 17.5 was the criterion for evidence of anorexia. Just a few more small pieces of the puzzle. Rodney.
