Guest guest
Well, if you know your cortisol rhythm via the 24 hour saliva cortisol tests, you can dose your Cortef according to when you need it, or you can dose it to symptoms. In general, most seem to be taking 20mg Cortef daily, others take up to 30mg, and still others take time enteric prednisoLone (the big guns), oh and some just use glandulars or supportive supplements. It does seem to take more than 3 weeks to heal weak adrenals for the majority of people that " I " know about that are treating them. For example, it took me around 2 years, altho I am now treating low aldosterone as well. And, um, that may be something you should look into as well, since it is another adrenal hormone that can be affected with thyroid issues. Oh and my low cortisol issue seems to be resolved when I had been taking 50mg Iodoral for a few months. Sam (thyroidless since 1990) > > I have been on Cortef for a bout 3 weeks and so far so goo. Guest guest
I went straight to using what was necessary - generic Florinef called " Fludrocortisone " . With it I take 1/2-1 tsp of celtic sea salt and lots of water a couple times a day. I started at 1/4 tab and worked up to a whole tab over a month's time. I ave backed down to 1/2 tab per day as it feels as tho that may be the proper dose for me... I will be retested soon, to see if what I am on is the proper dose. I believe treating my low aldosterone may be that ellusive missing piece to the puzzle I have sought for so long. The rest of my hair is " FINALLY " coming back in. I have been crying tears of joy over this... I had a GREAT birthday! <big grin> Sam :-D (finally getting hairy) > > Hi Sam, > > Are you treating your low aldosterone with sea salt or did you have to go > Florinef? > > BTW...happy birthday, hope you had a great one! > > Neil

Guest guest
> > You take up to a teaspoon of salt at one time??? > > --- Celtic Sea salt is rather tastey. I plop out about 1/2 tsp, wet my finger tip and dip it in the pile, then on the back of my tongue and then swallow water real fast. I do that until the salt is gone. If I can, I sometimes try 1 tsp. Yea, that's a lot, but I " have to " ...it's what works. ...and my hair is finally growing back... Sam
Guest guest
I'd think that much would make you sick to your stomach. Almost like drinking sea water. > > Re: Tips for healing the adrenals? > <hypothyroidism/message/34761;_ylc=X3oDMTJxOG4yaHA\ 3BF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzE0NTY2NARncnBzcElkAzE3MDkyNTEwODIEbXNnSWQDMzQ3NjEEc2V\ jA2Rtc2cEc2xrA3Ztc2cEc3RpbWUDMTIwMDA0NzU0Mg--> > > > > Posted by: " Sam " k9gang@... > <mailto:k9gang@...?Subject=%20Re%3A%20Tips%20for%20healing%20the%20ad\ renals%3F> > stealthwind <stealthwind> > > > Thu Jan 10, 2008 10:41 pm (PST) > > > > > > You take up to a teaspoon of salt at one time??? > > > > > --- > > Celtic Sea salt is rather tastey. Guest guest
Nope, not at all. I drink at least one large glass of water with it. It's necessary to help build my blood volumn back up along with the generic Florinef. Sam > > I'd think that much would make you sick to your stomach.
