Hi:

I am not sure if I belong here because I have not been diagnosed with

anything yet. About a month ago I went for a checkup with my primary

care physician & complained of being very tired. We did a blood test

and a few days later I got a call saying that my cholesterol level was

high & the doctor wanted to repeat a blood test in two months.

I also had some bacteria in my urine. I attributed to the bacteria to

several courses of antibiotics I had been on due to ongoing and

never-ending dental work. I ate low fat yogurt and cranberry juice

and had no problems. & I assumed the chlosterol wasn't too bad as it

could wait two months.

Last week, I visited my psychiatrist who took a look at those lab

tests. I also had a high TSH level (5.34 and the range on the test

is .4-4.50/mIU/l) and she was very surprised that my doctor had not

mentioned it.

So I went online and saw that I had some of the symptoms of

hypothyroidism, including lethargy, depression, decreased libido. And

I have read there is some link between high cholesterol & a

malfunctiong thyroid as well as dental problems???. I don't know if

this has any relevance but I also have a high number of eosinophils

(white blood cells.)

So, if you are still with me, any advice on what to do? As I am

typing this, my first thought is to forget about my dr. & find an

endocrinologist. Also, can anyone me to a Web site with accurate

information on thyroid conditions. I am having a problem trying to

figure out what is correct information.

Thank you.

Ellen
