What are the Principal Causes of Death in CR Rodents?

I have just been reading the abstracts of Bruce's nine journal

articles related to coconut oil (or, more specifically, medium chain

fats, which includes coconut).

This has brought to mind an issue that had not occurred to me

previously. We all know that among the general (fat) population

about 50% die of heart disease and 25% from cancer. But we also know

that those on CR are less susceptible to these diseases.

Does the reduction in incidence of these diseases for those on CR

mean that CRONistas do not need to be so concerned about saturated

and hydrogenated fats? Do we know what the principal causes of death

are for mammals on CR? Are they different from the the causes of

death of non-CR animals? Should we, if we are on CR, perhaps be

concentrating on avoiding some other list of illnesses? Or do those

on CR die predominantly from the same illnesses as the rest of the

population, but at a greater age?

The reason I ask the question is because if, for example, CR

effectively eliminates the risk of heart disease, perhaps those doing

CR do not need to be as concerned about consuming saturated (and,

perhaps, hydrogenated) fats. If so, then the huge saturated fat

content of coconut oil would not seem so threatening.

Only one of Bruce's nine journal articles seemed to have relevance to

the fat/heart disease issue. It showed a considerable reduction in

triglyceride levels in those taking coconut-like oil supplements,

compared with those taking a similar quantity of canola oil.
