Guest guest
Although I am not a frequent poster to this list (or the " other " one, for that matter), I am a frequent reader of both. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their contributions. BTW, I used to post as MrBosco77, but says I violated the service agreement. How is beyond me, and I never got an answer from them, so I had to re-register. It is about the 3 month anniversary of my starting the CRON diet. In that time I have dropped from 206 to 186 pounds. I have actually consciously upped my calorie intake because I would prefer not to drop more than 1 lb. per week for now. I believe Walford's warnings about the danger of too rapid fat loss. Once I am down to 175, I intend to decrease the rate of loss further, to a pound per month or so. I am 6'-0 " so I have a ways to go (not sure where I will end up), but so far it has been very smooth sailing, in part thanks to the excellent advice found in this forum. The most amazing thing to me is that even in this short time, my blood pressure has dropped and I have more energy. But the best bonus of all is that all my yeast problems have just plain vanished. I'm not talking about vague yeast problems, I'm talking about colonies that used to grow in unmentionable places. They had become lotrimin-resistant, and I was constantly having to dose myself with tea tree oil to try to control outbreaks. They clearly originated in my digestive tract, but were not polite enough to remain there. In retrospect, it is obvious. Although I have never been much of a sugar-eater, I certainly ate plenty of high-glycemic foods. Tortilla chips, lots of white rice, potatos. Now that I have removed these things from my diet, this problem that has plagued me for 15 years has gone away. Yes, I did seek medical treatment for it. I managed to find one doctor who was willing to agree that candidiasis was in fact the problem. His advice (besides some 'magic bullet' pills which he felt were only a short-term solution) was to change my diet. The description of the diet he gave me was very CRON-like (actually, quite similar to South Beach diet). In part, that is what started me researching nutrition, and got me here. So, thanks again to this group and all the great advice and words of wisdom. Rob in Alaska
