Guest guest
Should I ask my Doc to keep me on the 90 and take it an hour before I eat and see what happens or should I ask him to raise it to 105 and see what happens? That is if he wants to work with me. Could that maybe make them all come into range? Betty > > > > > > > > ... Guest guest
I cannot take 3 grains. I was able to get to 150 and that was it. I tried the 180 and ended up in the hospital. I did not even feel well on 150. The best for me was 120. I never felt that good in my life. I took that with food and my tests came back to high and that is why he lowered them again. Guest guest
My guess is that you should increase your dose; but be aware I have no medical expertise whatsoever. I doubt personally that food interference changes things by a very large percentage; but I could well be wrong [i think all the experts disagree with me. Strange; as much as I butt heads with Gracia she probably agrees with me here]. I know some things [iron???; calcium???] are supposed to cause great problems with your hypothyroidism medications. I personally take 75 mcg Synthroid with 5 other pills every night and pay no attention whatsoever to interactions with them or with food. As always, YMMV... Guest guest
To hopefully NOT feel like crap for another 6 weeks??? Guest guest
Be aware that Gracia's " prescription " is the same for everyone; regardless of tests or often even of symptoms. Not recommended by most people; we're all different. IMHO. > > Re: Need advice onmy last tests/Nancie or anyone > <hypothyroidism/message/39604;_ylc=X3oDMTJxNjViZXR\ kBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzE0NTY2NARncnBzcElkAzE3MDkyNTEwODIEbXNnSWQDMzk2MDQEc2V\ jA2Rtc2cEc2xrA3Ztc2cEc3RpbWUDMTIxNDM5MTE4NA--> > > > > Posted by: " myirishcottage " bjshamrock@... > <mailto:bjshamrock@...?Subject=%20Re%3A%20Need%20advice%20onmy%20last%20\ tests%2FNancie%20or%20anyone> > myirishcottage <myirishcottage> > > > Tue Jun 24, 2008 9:26 pm (PDT) > > I cannot take 3 grains. Guest guest
Hi, Chuck. I certainly won't argue with you. But as you may remember I'm on 75 mcg Synthroid and my TSH lowered from 6.xx to 2.xx in a range of... Darn, I can't find it; I think it was something like2.xx or 3.xx to 5.5 or 5.6. So my TSH is within range and I have no hypothyroidism symptoms. Given this I suspect that if I carefully took the Synthroid properly I could reduce the dose a bit. But it's a bit easier for a lazy person to take a bit more and not worry about the loss. Or am I looking at this all wrong??? One strange result that I received on other bloodwork recently was a carbon dioxide reading of 20 [L] in a range of 21-33 mmol/L. What the heck would make the blood carbon dioxide level be low??? Thanks, > > Re: Need advice onmy last tests/Nancie or anyone > <hypothyroidism/message/39630;_ylc=X3oDMTJxMDVsdTB\ nBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzE0NTY2NARncnBzcElkAzE3MDkyNTEwODIEbXNnSWQDMzk2MzAEc2V\ jA2Rtc2cEc2xrA3Ztc2cEc3RpbWUDMTIxNDQyNTYzOQ--> > > > > Posted by: " gumboyaya@... Guest guest
I agree that she may be forced into the action you suggested; but I was responding specifically to your question: " ..why not keep it where it is and do the new instructions for 6 weeks- " . All the while realizing it may not be possible/feasible; but if she has an option she might well consider it to avoid feeling like crap for another month and a half. Anyway, quite a few here report feeling like crap even though the numbers look acceptable. What kind of position is she going to be in if she feels like crap for 6 weeks and the numbers AREN'T really bad? > > Re: Need advice onmy last tests/Nancie or anyone > <hypothyroidism/message/39639;_ylc=X3oDMTJxdTh1MjM\ 2BF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzE0NTY2NARncnBzcElkAzE3MDkyNTEwODIEbXNnSWQDMzk2MzkEc2V\ jA2Rtc2cEc2xrA3Ztc2cEc3RpbWUDMTIxNDQ3Nzg0Mg--> > > > > Posted by: " nancie barnett " deifspirit@... > <mailto:deifspirit@...?Subject=%20Re%3A%20Need%20advice%20onmy%20last%20test\ s%2FNancie%20or%20anyone> > aspenfairy1 <aspenfairy1> > > > Wed Jun 25, 2008 7:42 pm (PDT) > > look- she is going to feel awful- but instead of her fighting with her > doc NOW- it more Prudent to wait another 6 weeks and then get a > retest- then the labs will most likely look pretty bad and in combo > with her symptoms will enable her to have a better position > negotiating for a higher dose.
