Right. for example, , hitting " Reply All " to your message brought into the " To " line the name of this group, your address, and also jgarvin's address (because your " Reply All " had sent to him privately as well). Now, of course, all one has to do in that case is look at the line and delete the private address. Or one could just enter low dose naltrexone in the line to begin with. The name of the group is in my address book. All I enter is the first three letters, and the rest of the name pops in there automatically. I don't think we need to change the " Reply To " function. All that is required is a little care. Everyone should ALWAYS look at the line in any message they send to anyone. That's standard Internet practice, sure to save one grief someday. And it takes only an extra few seconds, folks. Likewise, I don't think we need to make some kind of rule about not sending private e-mail messages to people. It's not enforceable, and any " rule " we would come up with now is something that a new majority down the road might not like. Asking permission before sending messages privately? Well, how to effect that, but publically? Then you have the group being cluttered up with messages from so-and-so asking thus-and-so, " Can I e-mail you privately? " Eeek! Common sense, people, and standard Internet practice. Do NOT send people private e-mails that threaten and/or harass them and insult them. For one thing, that person may tell your ISP and get your account yanked or worse. Capisc'? And DO look at your lines before sending, and while we are at it, PLEASE trim your messages! I, for one, am awfully tired of getting messages that say " Me too! " or " Thanks! " with am entire message, or worse, several messages, quoted underneath. I see an awful lot of that in this group. Many thanks for considering the above, Galoux
Guest guest
Thanks Bou you said it all - please take note folks - I subscribe to several groups and the number of emails coming through is getting too much. Many I'm sure are not intended for the whole group so can we please be more careful and check the 'To:' line before we hit the send button. Many thanks Sue ----- Original Message ----- From: " Bou " <lswillia@...> <low dose naltrexone > Sent: Wednesday, January 14, 2004 1:35 PM Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] msg posts--common practice and common sense > > > > > >when I want to reply to the entire group, I just hit " reply to all " . > > > > Yes, but that's part of the problem. Guest guest
Listen all I know is I don’t want nasty emails anymore. It seems people don’t do them in group but they don’t mind sending you privately that they for instance feel sorry for Canada because you’re a Canadian and BS like that… I’m here to learn about LDN and some people share more and I don’t mind I like it, but no more nastiness please! Guest guest
As for truncating messages I have MS memory issues when I get an email privately that has no thread of conversation behind it I often don’t know where or what is going on… LOL I can understand truncating to the last two messages but just sending one with nothing behind… you’ve lost me. Guest guest
I'm sorry you got a message like that . Sounds pretty childish if you ask me. Just about as low as calling names. <- has a no name calling rule in her house.
