Guest guest
I use the compounder pharmacy and I live in Orland Park, IL. My neuro at University of Chicago gave me my prescription. I think as long as you acknowledge that this is an unproven therapy and that you want to try it as a " cheap experiment " you should be able to get it. Especially at hospitals. I think the problem with docs in smaller practices is they don't have the insurance coverage to take risks by giving you a therapy like LDN. I'm starting betaseron soon. I know that everyone is saying yada yada about interferons lowering the immune function and LDN raising it. But, interferon is actually an immunomodulator and copaxone, despite popular belief, does have the effect of lowering immunity. When I read the website's statement on stopping abcr therapy, I remember the wording being " most will find that it isn't necessary to be on abcrs anymore. " Or certainly something similar. If someone has a direct statement from Dr. Bihari saying to stop interferon therapy, post it! I would hedge my bets and use both. You wouldn't want to stop betaseron and then find out in the future that LDN is worthless. I've been using it about 6-7 months now. I have noticed that I haven't had a cold or anything yet, but everyone around me has. I'm happy with LDN so far. It hasn't done much for my symptoms of ms though. I know, it's supposed to stop progression not improve symptoms. But, we really haven't had much in terms of a confirmation that there is sound science behind LDN therapy. www.low dose naltrexone.org doesn't do it for me. I would go into the doctors office and say that its a lot of anecdotal accounts that LDN stops ms progression and its cheap for me to find out for myself. I would also mention that your not trying to subsitute LDN for betaseron. Be very humble and non-combative and there shouldn't be a problems. If there is, then there are other ways to get it. There's a doc in Wisconsin that will give you a script over the phone. Members here can tell you about that and, as I'm sure, other docs that can help you as well. > Hello!First time poster, here or anywhere.Got Mri and diagnosis last > April after waking for work one A.M. feeling extremely loaded.Got > started on betaseron right away not having heard about ldn at the > time. From what I've read here and on other sites everyone seems to > have drawn the same conclusion regrding the CRAB drug- therapies.Like > so many of you due to increasing fatigue + depression I've decided > to give ldn a shot.I've got an app't on the 14th of Jan. with a new > neuro.Would it be adviseable to drop-off Ldn literature at his office > prior to meeting him?I'd like to stop betaseron A.S.A.P but don't > want to take unnessescary chances as I've not gotten a 'script > yet.I'd like to be ready though as soon as I do.If anyone out there > lives in the Aurora,Il. area and knows a good Neuro or M.S.specialist > I'd sure appreciate hearing about them.I live a short distance from > the compounder pharmacy.Anyone using them?Yays or nays? Thanks for any > and all responses.Mike.
