Gracia

Hi there. So far everything I've read on this board is making little

lightbulbs go off in my head. I was somewhat diagnosed with

hypothyroidism in 2000 after having chemo and radiation for Hodgkins

Lymphoma. My Oncologist told me to keep an eye on my TSH and T4 levels

as we moved around and I saw new Drs. (We are a military family) I've

always been borderline as he called it and have yet to actually see an

Endocrinologist for further testing. My physical problems are actually

on both side of the hypo and hyper " symptoms " lists. I don't have any

recent TSH and T4 numbers to quote but a few years back they would

fluctuate between 4.53 - 9.26 TSH and .86 - .93 ish for my Free T4 (I

have a copy of old medical records) Anyways, in light of the fact that

I just don't feel right (having heart palpitations, etc) I will be

making an appt to see a Dr this week. It may take a while to actually

see an Endocrinologist but that will be my goal.

What kinds of questions other than the obvious should I ask? I assume

there will be lots of bloodwork. What other tests can I expect?

Anything I should know as a heads up? Do the meds make you feel a lot

better or just mask the symtoms?

I've had problems off and on for 8 years now and the Drs have all

blamed them on the fact that I have 2 young kids, don't have a regular

excercise program etc. They do the basic cancer testing and labs, I've

even been tested for arthritis but don't have that either. I just feel

drained on a regular basis then get quick bursts of energy then drained

again for a few more days. My body is always fatigued, I get irregular

heartbeats, depressed, irratable, but I also get nervousness, insomnia,

and have trouble concentrating from time to time.

Thanks for taking the time to read all of this. I am trying to get some

answers and get back to living again.
