Guest guest
Hi, my name is Sherrell. I'm 47, 5 ft 2 - & over the last 2 or so years, I have lost 70 lb.s. Hard to tell which was the determining factor in the results. I discovered the Atkins Diet first & got results. My hardheadedness of pushing through pain to work out? Or my health issues. So, I stumbled upon your group. And so many of the issues are what have plagued me since 1997. I'll try to keep it brief. And I am continuing to check the articles on file here. 1997- Diagnosed w/Lupus, weighed 145 lb.s, worked out daily & was on Craig. This was the smallest I can remember being since grade school! Started treatment & gained back to 180 lb.s. Suffered for 2 yr.s before saying enough! Quit all meds, started to exercise again. Even though painful & tired. Symptoms: Thrush, numerous yeast infections (sometimes of every orifice!), nail fungus of all nails (currently my right hand.), numerous urinary infections, nausea, extreme gas (belching),constipation to extreme diarrhea (have had to be hospitalized.) Overall body soreness/ pain, (especially neck, shoulders, beneath arms, lower back, hips/ buttocks, knees (especially the right), feet (especially the big toes.) Dry eyes with floaters, filming & occasional (lumps) on rims of eyelids & mouth. Ringing of the ears. Numerous fibroid tumors & cysts of several areas of the body. Bouts with both pneumonia & bronchitis. I of course seem to keep dry/ chapped lips. Though for some reason, as long as I visited tanning beds- it stopped. I know I have definitely been falling apart! I have since been treated for Graves Disease (2004-2005), & been declared " cured " . Though my Antithyroid Peroxidase is 587. No determined cause as of yet. I do still have enlarged Thyroid w/multiple goiter/ nodules. Though no Dr's seem concerned. I am losing my voice now. Can no longer sing, though I previously trained & was a 1st Soprano. Now a 2nd Alto or Bass. I hope through this group & article's to achieve some sort of -if not comfort, normalcy. Though it's been so long, I no longer know how that feels? Much of what I have been able to read, has already been done by me. NO sugar, chocolate, caffeine, carbonation, white flour/ bread, dairy - I have been using cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, small amounts of sour cream, heavy cream, ( mostly in recipies only), none dairy creamer for half-calf coffee. I only use fresh or frozen vegetable, dried or fresh fruit (I can tolerate very little.) Only low-carb or whole grain tortillas for most all cooking. Only Olive Oil for cooking. NO potatos (though I can tolerate parsnips, cauliflower & sweet potatos.) Only sauted, broiled, slow cooker, or electric grilled meats. Though I do use canned/ package tuna/ salmon. I work out daily still, rotating strength & yoga every other day. Since 2004, I now weigh 120 lb.s. Wear a sz. 2, but have recently started to gain weight. I had maintained 113 lb.s, with yoga, strength training & low-impact aerobic activities. I'm getting worse again. Memory shot. Strength negotiable & if-y. Have started to experience (flushing) shortly after eating. Have also had 2 episodes of flushing & shakes, enough to grab something to drink (water) & eat. Of course due to the stomach issues, I have no appetite. Metabolism is so slow, it can takes days for some foods to pass through my system. I apologize for being so long, the test for yeast scored me at 753.
