Guest guest
I have been avoiding salt for years. I do tend to have high blood pressure too. Added to my MS. ----- Original Message ----- From: Braun Doherty LDN Group ; Spotlight - LDN Sent: Tuesday, February 03, 2004 4:31 PM Subject: [low dose naltrexone] salt??? Hello,all-I have a very unusual request. Please let me know if you eat salt or ifyou avoid it at all. You see, my acupuncturist, who follows chinesemedicine, states that just about all of his MS patients do not eatsalt. Now he claims that salt is needed (according to chinese medicine)to help with the immune system, the liver, the kidneys; etc. I was noteating salt before I saw him, just because I figured it was no good foryou. I do not have high blood pressure, actually it's very low (evenmore reason to add salt to my diet according to him). Anyway he askedme to put this question out there on our message boards to see how manyof us actually avoid salt. So if you would please respond, I wouldgreatly appreciate it. Please respond to me directly as well as thegroup.ps - Now he is not claiming this would cure our condition, but he doessay that it would probably help.Thank in advance,

Guest guest
We need three things to live, Air, Water and Salt. Without any one of these we would die.
Guest guest
flashy cathy, this is the first I have heard about help with the ON that was great to hear. I have only been on LDN 3mg for 6 days and I am walking great, like someone gave me my legs back. I was wondering if anyone was getting help with ON and numbness? How long have you been on it? Guest guest
Hi , The Chinese herbalist is right, we do need salt preferably sea salt or salt from natural sources. Celery has alot of salt in it. Regards, Tom
Guest guest
I started LDN last July. The first night I had immediate improvement with urinary urgency and frequency. The next day I noticed increased strength in my legs and better balance. Since that time there have been no further improvements but those mentioned have remained constant. I was quite stiff before I started and still am. There have not been any negatives or worsening problems. Regards, Tom
Guest guest
I've always eaten a LOT of salt. I tend to not cook with it because I add so much at the table. My blood pressure tends to be a bit low so I can't see the extra salt is causing any problems with hypertension. I received my MS diagnosis in Fall, 2003. Guest guest
Hi Welcome to the site. I hope you find what you want from here. I am on LDN and I take Betaseron. The LDN has helped me a whole lot. My pain is gone. My ON is clearing up more all the time. I walk better and farther. I hope it helps you as much as me. Guest guest
Not the numbness right now....but in time maybe, However that anoying burning that I am sure a lot of people have encountered, has changed to numbness almost overnight. Numbness I can accept that scalded feel was not even fair! I used to get ON when overheated or tired only but in the winter none of that applies. Guest guest
I started with25mg Naltrexone for 2 1/2weeks then down to 4.5mg since. I haven't felt a change with numbness but I hope I do. I have the MS hug. My feet were numb for a couple of years but that went away 6 months after a solumedrol IV for hip not working right. I hope this helps you. Guest guest
Hi Reg, I had that burning feeling in my thigh and I found out about Welbutrin on another web site. It took the burning away as long as I took it. Since I've been on LDN the burning did't come back when I stopped taking it. Guest guest
I get a brand called Real-Salt at the health food store. It isn't bleached to be perfectly white and is supposed to have more of the trace minerals in it. It also has a slightly sweet salty taste (if that makes sense). I like it. Guest guest
A supplemental question to this inquiry would be " how many eat commercial table salt i.e., Morton's, or a natural sea salt? " There is a difference that is supposed to be significant. The commercial salt has been refined to remove a lot of the minerals, etc. from it. Natural salt allegedly contains all of Mother Nature's minerals in it and they help the salt assimilate into a persons body whereby commercial salt (Morton's) won't assimilate. Natural salt allegedly does not exhibit any adverse cardiac effects but instead the body needs it.
