Guest guest
Glad you brought that up. I have always had a horrible time with aspartame. I have heard Aspartame might be bad for us but haven’t seen any studies to prove it does anyone know of evidence for this? Would love to post it in my group if someone does. Guest guest
You can find a summary of the Aspartame controversy at that great urban legends site, at snopes2.com. The last time I looked, they had a variety of links as well. Personally, I think the whole thing is bunk. Guest guest
Here in Holland we have a very vivid discussion about the effects of Aspertame and other fake-sugars. We even have a kind of union. They proved the bad effects it can have. But, like somany things, one reacts, others don't. I used Aspertame sweets for years and cannot say I noticed a difference since I stopped a few months ago. Believe natural things are better than chemical. So use raw of fruit sugar now. Guest guest
True I understand that I just don’t mind hearing about what works for people with immunity etc… a lot of people talk about vitamins and supplements that seem to help through flu season etc… I found that helpful. And I can understand people here with other medications feeling everything is about MS and we’ve lost track of LDN that’s understandable too. By the way just had a horrific cold in my household right when I started LDN and I didn’t get sick… I remember someone else saying they noticed that with LDN, so I wonder if LDN helped me get through that? Guest guest
I agree….quackmeds.com also has information on aspartame and the false statements about it. Remember, Diseases were around a lot longer than aspartame. I’m sure it is responsible for some problems like headaches etc. but I seriously doubt it has anything to do with MS. Using common sense is the key. Don’t freak out and throw out everything from your cabinets because of an Email. son Owner/ operator Friends with MS.com or join our email newsgroup: FriendsWithMS/ -----Original Message----- From: Bou [mailto:lswillia@...] Sent: Wednesday, January 07, 2004 8:40 PM To: low dose naltrexone Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] " ASPERTAME " You can find a summary of the Aspartame controversy at that great urban legends site, at snopes2.com. Guest guest
Here is a comment that I could not help but speak my peace on... I have done some reasonable checking into this, as both myself and my wife (who has MS) have had very discernable effects from aspartame products. As for myself, I get very painful headaches, and unmistakably does worsen my wife's MS symptoms. About 3 years ago, my wife drank about 1.5 liters of diet soda in a 8 hour period. In the next weeks following, she had one of the worst exacerbations she had experienced since being diagnosed. Following that episode, she has refrained from any products that contain aspartame, nutra-sweet and related products, and has not experienced as severe exacerbations since. Do some research, as the info is readily available on the web. Aspartame breaks down in heat into 4 very toxic chemicals. One of which is wood alcohol (methanol) which turns into formaldehyde and formic acid. If you don't believe me, ask yourself these questions: 1) Why after the soda industry started using aspartame in their products, do we now have "Freshness Dating"? Sodas don't spoil - it's sugar and water... 2) Ever drink a diet soda, and rather than sweet, it had a very bitter flavor? Was it stored in a hot location for a while? Now, if it is FDA approved as a food/sweetener, how can it be bad? Anyone ever hear that the high ranking official of the FDA at the time is now a high paid exec at Searle? Want to know more, visit http://www.321recipes.com/aspartame.html or do a google search on "aspartame health risks". -----Original Message-----From: spexl@... Guest guest
HI AFTER READING ALL OF THE E-MAILS THAT WERE SENT YESTERDAY, I WAS GLAD TO SEE THAT ASPERTAME WAS LOOKED INTO. I NEVER MENT FOR IT TO TAKE ANYTHING AWAY FROM THE LDN GROUP. I JUST WANTED PEOPLE TO BE AWARE OF THIS SWEETENER AND MAKE UP THEIR OWN MIND WHETHER TO USE IT OR NOT. THIS IS A GROUP THAT IS FOR LDN AND IT'S EFFECTS ON PEOPLE. I MYSELF AM ON LDN AND DECIDED TO USE IT BECAUSE OF THE INFO O GOT FROM THIS GROUP. I FOUND IT TO BE VERY INFORMATIVE. SO NOW THAT PEOPLE ARE AWARE OF THE ASPERTAME CAN WE PLEASE GET BACK TO THE LDN SO IT MAY HELP OTHER PEOPLE LIKE IT DID FOR ME.
Guest guest
I think that it did help you with not getting the cold. Dr. Bihari and his wife take LDN for maitenance because there is a lot of cancer in their families and they don't want to get it.
